It does a Libgdx HTML Project, and the Desktop Project works too. We will see if we I get somewhere.

Hello everyone,

So, if I like the theme, or rather have a good idea, I’m IN!


So to comply with the rules, here is my (very basic) engine, that I scrapped together a while ago from my last LD Game: http://ramuh.de/ld/engine_template.7z

It’s based on Libgdx/Java and does have a few basic classes, and  sets up the Window, basic input managing and has a simple game loop, and not a whole lot else.


So I will use:
Java/Libgdx for the sweet Web Export (Games in the Browser just work the best for LD)
Allegro Sprite Editor for Sprites and other graphics (probably)
Bfxr for Sound Effects.
If theres still time left and creative genius strikes me I may do some music with Famitracker and/or my guitar, but I’m not very good at making music so we will see.

I have no Idea. It is 4am. I am tired.

But i have to say i like the theme, while my mind was completely blank with “alone” last time, at least some things are sparking through my mind. But its nothing concrete enough. Darn

I haven’t even decided on a Programming language yet…i now did 2 games with C++ and Allegro, but i like to learn something else, maybe c# with XNA.


I think I will now go to bed, and see what tomorrow brings.

Character Animation

While the Contest gets closer and closer i will now try to do a walking animation for a pixel character, something i just was not able to do for my warm up game. I just could not figure out how to do it. So i will now want to try and do that!

So i wanted to share my Codebase with you for something involving C/C++.

It is basically the same i used for my warm-up game, with a few tweaks and Box2D added in.

Its nothing fancy, just basic Allegro setup, main loop, keyboard events, shutdown event.

One neat feature is, you render into an Allegro Bitmap, which gets stretched onto the main display. This way, you don’t need to care about display size, the player can simply drag the window to whatever size he likes.

You still have to setup your build environment to include allegro and box2d and link against it, but this shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

So i hope you like it, or rather that it might help somebody building his or her game for the competition! Enjoy


In & Warm-Up Post-Mortem

Hello Folks,

this will be my first LD, i sadly had no time for the last one.

My Tools will be:

Language: C++, using Allegro as a Library for all the heavy lifting

Graphics: Allegro Sprite Editor + whatever might come in handy

Sound: Sfxr

Music: inudge.net (atleast for the warmup)

So i wanted to try out my stuff, so the Warm-Up came in handy. The main goal I have is try out Allegro (http://www.allegro.cc/), as i have not used it before and wanted to see whether it is any good.

So after finishing my Warm-Up Game (Check it out here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-22-warmup/?action=preview&uid=7391 ) turns out it is good. I liked it very much, it got all the jobs done i wanted it to do. Pretty nice.

What i learned for the main contest: Write good Code!
I coded as bad as possible by choice to see how far you can get with it and what you can get away with. Turns out you can get away with alot und you can get pretty far, yet managing it is a mess. I guess OO was invented for a reason 😉

Also, i am the worst Artist ever.


So have fun with the game if you try it, its simple, st0mp on as many enemys as you can without touching the floor. It probably is not much fun anyway, but its a game and its finished, so i think that qualifies. :)
