Hi.

Not a real surprise, but I am in. This time I have freed all the weekend in my new distraction free flat, so I will try to finish something on my own.

So I have finally settled on the tools and languages I like, so here they are:

Programming language: Javascript

Framework: Phaser <3

Editor: Sublime Text 3 (still deciding on this, but most probably will roll with it)

Graphics: Photoshop CS2

Audio: Not decided (Any suggestions for someone who done nothing with audio?)

Effects: SFXR

I will be streaming all the development @ twitch DrRayLV

Remember that the most important thing to take on from Ludum Dare is to have fun while making games, because sometimes we do forget that. So good luck. (:

Hi.

During the LD 48h compo I made a game “Farmer Joe Sheep Farm” http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-26/?action=preview&uid=9486 I only worked 12h straight from 24h, because on Sunday I had a Math Competition that took all the day.

On Saturday I managed to make everything except sound effects, which I completed on Sunday.

I managed to try out Flash game framework that I have never used Flixel. The framework itself was ok, but it lacked Documentation. As of everything else somehow managed to not make many errors and crashes, except one that took me an hour to solve. It was due to the lack of Documentation, so I had to hack it my way – the dirty way.

I think I did well in the compo, better than all the previous times, because back then there were a lot of distractions, so I did not submit anything. Here is my timelapse. 12h livestream compiled into 10 minutes, with hopefully good music.

Hi. Good Luck everyone. The progress is going well. Here is my deskphoto. Yay for lawn chair. P.S. That wall is the only one thats not renovated in the room :D. Yesterday I got free coffee in mail, as I don’t usually drink it, I tried it and its pretty good.

Hows it going everyone?

I guess I don’t have anything much to say, but I am in. This will help me get off my current project and gain more inspirience and allow me to try a neat idea in warm up. For that stay tuned.

I’ll be using either Unity or something like haxe/as3. Still have not decided, will see how my warm up with unity goes.

Hello.

Its another LD weekend, another time, this time I am planning on finishing something 😀 It has been fun over the year. I have tried to do all the LDs this year, but something always happen unexpectedly, but this time I hope not. Ill be coding actionscript 3 in flashdevelop using FlashPunk or Away3D engine depending on theme. “Astonishing” graphics provided by Paint.NET. You can watch me struggle on http://twitch.tv/drraylv

So I was thinking about participating LD this year, but I don’t want to fail on arts again, so if someone would love to team up with me. I am able to spend as much time from 72h jam as needed. Programming in AS3.

So a lot of time is passed since I started to work on theme, and I got some good progress going.

  • Dynamic titlescreen (Still needs some improvements)
  • Random level gen (50% finished)
  • Player moving and shooting (finished)

There is a lot of work still to do. Here are few screens.

Sorry about the image quality there is unusually lot light coming in + picture taken by Nokia C6 5mpx camera. So I was sitting for about half an hour and managed to come up with the game. Game will be set in near future. It will be sidescroller/top-down shooter where you will be a virus, that needs to kill a humans body, but wait, there will be an anti virus, that you need to fight with. More coming soon.

So this weekend will be fast moving. There are few hours left to start, so from now on I have my plan set up. Now its 21:05

  • Wake up at 4:00 in the morning for theme announcement
  •  Take a cold shower to wake up
  • Start doing games till late night, with few breaks?
  • Wake up on Sunday at 7:00 and go to Math contest, Ill return somewhere about at 16:00
  • Do more game development

So the week is really full of adventures, but how can I do that without a music, please suggest me a song here (Google form), and if someone is interested, here are the submitted results. I haven’t changed my mind on the tools I will use, FlashPunk. I will be doing timelapse.

My warmup session.

So, today I done my warm up session. I made a game using actionscript 3 and flash punk. The game took me around 5 hours. The problems I encountered were a problem with positioning bullet, fixed thanks to Darknek, and other problem was converting audio from wav (sfxr) to mp3, still don’t know how to fix. Used free sounds from the net. The game is DuckHunt style shooter, with some bad graphics. I suck at them. Things to improve next time, audio volume control, and separate audio class.  Any comments appreciated. :)

Hello, my name is Raimonds and I’m from Latvia. I’m in for LD #23. This is my first time and I hope to finish with something.

Language: Actionscript 3

Graphics:  Gimp and Paint

Less sleep, if any for a weekend, but that will be awesome. Would love to live stream, but can’t because of my hardware. I’m going for solo this year.
