Hatchet and Crank – Finally Done!

Posted by (twitter: @theupgradezone)

The Ratchet and Clank demake is finally finished :)

You are Hatchet. The last of your kind. Robots want you to be the dead last of your kind. Survive as long as you can! Where’s Crank? He’s hitching a ride on your back. He does nothing except watch. Like the lazy robot he is.

Go take a look at the entry :)

A Collection of Programs

Posted by (twitter: @theupgradezone)
Thursday, April 3rd, 2014 10:40 am

On my website, I am putting together a list of unique and useful programs that will help programmers, artists, and musicians alike. This list will be composed of obscure but useful programs that you may not have even seen before, and most importantly, are not from huge companies and don’t have the ‘Photoshop price tag’.

This list will provide you with programs that you may not have even heard of, and could be what you are looking for. Plus, it will provide some public recognition for the creators and will enable us to support them :)

Visit the page here. If you want your program to be added to this list or want to show me one that you found, contact me.

Side Note:

It is preferable that these programs are unique but useful in their purpose and function, and are not already on the Ludum Dare tools list.

Thanks :)

Free Resource Friday has it’s third item: A program called Colour Picker.

This program allows you to quickly pick a pixel’s colour from the screen and get its hexadecimal and RGB value.

Go get it at theupgradezone.com

If you think that extra features need to be added, leave a message on this post :)

This isn’t exactly game making, but it’s graphics. So close enough :)

I have decided to start making Minecraft skins for you to use and enjoy!

My first skin so far is the spy from Team Fortress 2 (red and blu variants!)

I am planning to do a little something for you game making rookies out there! Every Friday I will make and upload to my website royalty free resources for you to use in your games! This will include sprites, sounds, music, programs, code, tutorials, and anything else I can produce! This will begin on the 14th of March 2014. Visit the page here (it is still in progress).

I actually came up with this years ago when I was a member of the Scratch programming community, but I discontinued it when I left to learn professional code. But I have now revived it, for you to use and enjoy!

EDIT: I forgot that most, if not all, are spam-bots. So, if any admins come across this, please put forward the idea of a big red button that says BAN on it (or something along those lines). The long posts that they leave is just filling this website with junk. Thanks :)

If you are one of the people that post adverts concerning dresses, shoes, or anything else that isn’t about game creation, then go away. You are spamming this site with useless junk and we don’t want to see it. Plus, we are the wrong crowd to be advertising this stuff to. So please, go harass someone else.

Look at how long these things get!

And that isn’t even all of it!

If you are one of these people, stop.

There is a youtuber called Ctrl+Alt+FaceRoll and he reviewed a couple Ludum Dare games, and reviews lots of other indie games! Go check him out! Give him a like or even subscribe, he hasn’t got many subs but that can change! He is quite funny and his videos are of surprising quality!

P.S. No he didn’t ask me to advertise him :3

Cosmosis reviewed on IndieGames.com

My game Cosmosis was created for the Mini LD #49. Little did I know that a short time later, it would be reviewed by John Polson of the Weblog Indie Games.com! I don’t know what else to say. Apart from thanks for all of the support and feedback :).

You can read the review at http://indiegames.com/2014/02/freeware_pick_cosmosis_the_upg.html

And you can download the game at http://www.theupgradezone.com/cosmosis.html

Thank you to everyone :)

P.S. I think I fixed the never-ending bug.

EDIT 2: Thanks for all the help, guys 😀

EDIT: No longer accepting entries but feel free to read anyways.

I am in need of music for my game and I cannot compose to save my life.

I am making a space themed game for the Mini LD and I need some music.

Here is the concept:

The music needs to feel like you are floating through lifeless space, it needs to loop.

Thanks a lot :)
