It really bothers me that I can’t finish this one, but I felt it was probably better that I get more rest. I might still try to finish my game at some point, but it’s definitely not going to be done by the deadline.

Dropping out due to the flu.
The art is coming along a lot better than I was expecting; everyone but the zombie is animated now.
The original plan was to be able to pick up and throw the little guy at the zombies, but I ended up running into some weird problems with the physics engine. Now you just punt him at the zombies, and he’ll karate-chop them to death.
So far, so good. My art needs some work, though.
My “unconventional weapon” is a small, angry man who is constantly karate-chopping (inspired by this video).
And now I must sleep.
It’s been a while, but I’m going to give the compo another go!
The stuff I’m going to use this time: Godot Engine, GIMP and MyPaint for graphics, Bfxr for sound effects, and LMMS for music (if I even do any music; not really my strong suit).
I’m not going to livestream anything (I’d rather not deal with it this time around), but I’m going to try to post updates here as much as I can. Maybe I’ll even post stuff to that Twitter account I’ve never used…
Anyways, good luck, everyone! I’m feeling pretty good about this one!
I doubt that I’ll be able to finish. I’ve got a whole bunch of stuff going on at home right now (even though I tried to clear out this weekend), and I still have way too much to get done on my game. So, I’m dropping out.
Good luck, everyone!

Ha! Got my collision detection working!
So, my game is a zombie-apocalypse-type thing. I know, the concept is very original. Anyways, the player is able to spawn hoards of zombies in order to kill off all of the survivors. It’ll probably get a bit more complex, though. Just throwing zombies all over the place doesn’t seem like it would be too fun on its own.
Progress report, 2 hours in
I am most definitely competing this weekend! Again, I’ll be using Lua/LOVE, GIMP for graphics, Bfxr for sound effects, and probably Garage Band for music since I have access to an old Mac now.
Good luck, everyone!
However, I foolishly signed up for some volunteer work on the same weekend. If I can get someone to take my place (which I think I can), then I will totally be competing!
I have very little time to prepare, since this week is also finals week, so I’ll probably stick to what I did back in April: LOVE + Lua, GIMP for graphics, and Bfxr for sound effects. I still have no idea what to do about music (all of my previous games had none), but I guess I can still figure it out before friday!
It’s didn’t quite turn out how I was hoping, and it only kidna-sorta fits the theme, but it’s finally done! This was one hell of a weekend, but I had a lot of fun doing it, and I learned a few things in the process, too.
I slept in this morning, so I’ll probably be racing to finish everything I’ve put off till today. Up to now, I’ve been concentrating on the programming; really all I have left to do is shove in some sound effects and finish the remaining levels. Also, the graphics kind of suck, so I’ll have to see what I can do there.
This will be my first LD, so I’m really excited to see how this turns out!
I will be using:
- Programming: Lua with LOVE2D.
- Graphics: The GIMP, since that’s really all I know.
- Sound: Probably Bfxr for sound effects. I honestly have no idea what I’m doing as far as sound and music; hopefully I’ll have something figured out before the start of the compo.
I’m thinking of maybe doing a timelapse too. Maybe. I’ll try to get everything ready this weekend, and see what works out.
Anyways, good luck, everyone!
