GGJ made me fall in love with Voxels !

during this year global game jam i had a group with no artist; as a gameDesigner i wondered if i can make something up with voxels.

i’ve always been attracted by the minimalistic representations thess little cubes offers.

what was my surprise to discover that the free program “MagicaVoxel” is so easy to learn and allows to export obj ready to be used in unity. (with textures and materials aswell)

i’m sharing here my last creation just for fun. Any advices to improve my voxel modeling skills ? :-)

(please be gentle im no artist in GamDev :-) )

i’m in and i will try to make my first ever V.R game
this warm-up weekend i managed to make the plugin for VR cardboard Android phone work
with unity.
I’ll be using Unity with Playmaker + “TrinusVR” plugin
I should receive my cheap plastic headset to have the full experience tomorrow
and be READY TO GO for LD35 !

Help me get it to 100 !

The time has come where i can Destroy more things than i improve and implement !
Let’s consider this LudumDare34 over for me.
i created something i’m proud of and want to continue developping the idea further post-jam.

Day2 – Complete core loop

Finally got out of my Drag&Drop + Collisions usual problems
its now possible to play a whole loop and have a game over if
you touch a falling spiky-block or if you collide your 2 buttons

Animation 0

remaining things :
– manage a score counting logic
– change ennemy spawn and speed overtime
– putting a button off-screen will lead to gameOver too
+ Sounds / VisualCoolEffects
(Maybe a button to restart but dont want to spend time on this)

This time i will go alone and use 2 themes at once.
ill be using unity5 Playmaker + probably 2DxFX 2d Sprite FX
For now i can press one or the other button to make it grow while the other shrinks
I have simplistic ennemy “spiky blocks” spawning on top and falling.

Now i need to handle defeat condition + destroy ennemies offscreen.
I’ll keep posting !

Just a small post to let everyone know INNER MONSTERS is now available
directely in WebGL => http://goo.gl/zrwkxs


This means : No more problems with Chrome blocking Unity web player by default
For Chrome : play FULLSCREEN or game controls are taken over by Chrome’s
hotkeys…. – so many problems with Chrome …)

Each year Playsoft organizes a local site for Global Game Jam in Gdansk/Poland …
Since one jam a year is not enough :
we employees had to do something to fulfill our appetite for a good jam !

For this very first attempt of a LudumDare in the Office we gathered 6 people for LD33.

– 3 x Developers
– 1 x GameDesigner
– 1 x Graphical Artist
– 1 x Sound Designer / Q.A
