Yes my entry is in called “Duking Germs” and yes it can get ugly (see picture).  Not too long a play once you’ve worked it out. Play here in your browser: http://proceduralgames.com/LD27-final/

and rate here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/?action=preview&uid=26457

Now lets rate some games!

This was unintentional but it has tickled me since being told about the similarity. Still no real game mechanics complete, that will be rushed at the last minute. Enjoying LD48 😀

Fingers crossed

It is clear I have wasted my weekend getting sound working and building all non game stuff like pause and mute. I like the end result on screen but it is not a game. So I now have 12 hours to make a game. At least I have this stuff in ugly code form to use next time. Based on my use of time so far I’ll spend another LD weekend refactoring boilerplate. Still nothing to show unless you like a… PAUSE MENU!

It’s not even pretty. All drawn in canvas methods only. Because I can.

Half way progress report!

tasty sustenance

I listened to music, brainstormed, made a bit of music, wrote more boilerplate code, and I even had cake. But the game has not been so much a game as it didn’t exactly have a game design. This game mechanics stuff sorted itself out for me by fluke. Peter Molyneux keeps telling me to make a god sim (see earlier post) but I’m resisting that. On the plus side, the weather outside is dreary.

Progress made but not even a prototype to show. Tomorrow shall be busy. On a side note I have just noticed my game looks like my plate. I like my plate but it shouldn’t influence my game.

I have to make the music!

Ok reading the rules has turned out to be wise. I recommend everyone do it before the competition. just me that didn’t? Oh.

Bosca Ceoil to the rescue! Already converting guitar to chiptune.

One that knows what they are doing with this theme, and me. So many ideas, time to pick one was hours ago.

My codebase as of right now, I forgot to post it before

Just in time.

This is the state of affairs. I have a sparse bad foundation and shall build my bolted together mess of code gleefully.

JS Canvas with some code I’ve hastily been whipping up for this compo. It’s been some time since I entered. Last time for a movie theme LD, maybe a mini one, definitely had a unicorn in it for no reason. About 5 years back? Made that with C++ and SDL I think so this shall be nice. Exciting stuff.

Tools: TextWrangler, maybe Inkscape or Pixen or canvas methods, sound if I tack that into my code.

I am less than not prepared… but lets face it, no one reads these posts so I could write anything like the truth. I have prepared for this by kidnapping Peter Molyneux and will feed from his dreams for inspiration. See, now I have an excuse for making 2d curiosity without a prize. Yes that is square after square made from squares.

I’ve voted, bring on the theme.
