Finished my game!  It is a one button horizontal shooter where you have to hold the button to stay in the air.  I made it a one button game because only having one thing to do makes the gameplay more minimalistic.

After a days work my game is playable, though it’s quite short right now.   There are three enemy types right now, and walls to dodge.  To go with the minimalism theme I made the controls and gameplay pretty minimalistic, the game only uses the space bar.

Done with the basics, time for fun!

Everything is going good.  I finished finished the character, his movement, and his shooting.  I also made the background, it’s three layers of scrolling parallax.  I also came up with an idea that I think fits that theme well.  Now that I got most of the basic stuff done, next I’ll get to add lots of different features to make the game fun, which I think is my favourite part of making games.  Good luck everyone!

I’m in for the third time!  It’s really nice to do this again since I missed the last one.  Going to be doing the 48h competition. Using the same tools as last time.

  • FlashDevelop
  • FlashPunk

  • Paint.NET

  • Audacity
  • SFXR

I am done!  My game turned out okay I hope.  Play as a slime that evolves the more it eats, and use you evolution to defeat your enemies.   Gain friends, defeat bats and alligators.  Hope you all like it!

It’s actually a game now!

My entry is coming along good now.  The evolution working, combat is working, and it is actually fun to play now.  Just adding in as many features as possible before the deadline.  Also I have to do sound too, which is my least favourite part of making games.

My game is coming along good.  It is about a slime that eats stuff to evolve and survive.   There isn’t much to it yet, but I’m done the basic framework, like movement and evolution, so now I add stuff in!  The final game will be a twin stick shooter(except with the keyboard instead)

I’m in this.

Finished my entry, and I’m quite happy with it.  I wrote more about it, and why its in early.  Quite frankly, I’m just too lazy to write it again :) Link to the entry, and a screenshot to make this post look less boring.

I found a Gimmick! “Le Petit”

I worked for a few more hours when I woke up.  I got a lot done, way more then I expected, like ways to die, more art, and  even a cool gimmick.  This screenshot shows part of the level, with spikes and a metallic background.

To do:

  • add sounds
  • add music
  • sleep

Progress? “Le Petit”

Started working on my entry called “Le Petit”.

That means the small in french, which by the way I don’t speak.

It’s gonna be a platformer, and I’ve yet to think of a cool gimmick, but I got the basic movement engine, character art, and started the level art.  I also added a “cool” death animation, your dead bodies litter the ground where you died, and when you die an angle appears and floats off the top of the screen.  Overall I think its been good progress for 2 hours work.  Here is a screenshot of the some art and the death animation.

To do:

  • add enemies and traps
  • add cool gimmick
  • design levels
  • add sounds
  • add music?
  • add intro screen
  • sleep

I’ll keep you guys posted on any progress I make.
