Stijl Timelapse and Mac O SX scripts for creating timelapses

I noticed others created timelapses in past LD events, so I thought I’d try my hand at it too. Here’s a quick timelapse of my game development for LD#26. I only took snaps every 2 mins, so it’s not a very long video.

I’ve shared the scripts I used to create the timelapse videos on my github account for any Mac users out there who might want to use them.

Final Game: Stijl

I finished the game and submitted it. It’s not as challenging as I would have wanted it to be, but I was running out of steam and time.

My entry can be found here.

I think I’ll continue to work with it as a side project after LD26 is over. I think it could turn out to be a fun game when I have more time to work with it. I’ll leave it be until the voting is over.

Crunch Time

I made the unbelievably stupid mistake of getting my guitar out and creating my own music. What I thought would be a few minutes ended up being hours. I should have known better. Argh!

Progress continues though. Need to make a few more levels, add some color lasers, and then start to wrap it up. Not going to get as much done as I wanted to, but I think it will be a nice, playable few levels nonetheless.

Took me awhile, but I finally have a first level. Game is based on the RBY color scheme as emphasized in the De Stijl art movement and Piet Mondrian’s paintings.

Hope to finish it up tomorrow.

Initial Idea is Forming

Minimalism kind of through me for a loop at first, but after waking up this morning I seem to be forming a decent idea. I’ve got the basic game play, character, and level map art worked out. The final goal of the game still eludes me, but a whisper of a thought is making it’s way the surface.

Stijl - Initial Thought

A short intro post to announce I’m in as well. This is my first time entering Ludum Dare. I’m also very new to creating games, but looking forward to the fun. I may not have all 48 hours to work on this, but I hope to complete something in time.

Goal: Make something presentable and playable.

Game Engine: ImpactJS

Sound/Music: Some combo of autotracker.py,  Otomata, GarageBand, CFXR/SFXR, and Audacity.

Graphics: Pixen, Photoshop, Illustrator

Good luck everyone!
