Darkness, sound, thrill and only one room is lit! If you haven’t seen Engine Room yet, give it a try! Play through the short story of an engineer on a cargo ship. Trying to repair the engine, you have to fight against pirates who are hijacking the ship!

The game was something new for me, because I didn’t develop any kind of shooter yet. But it worked out! PLAY HERE

Got the melee and ranged combat, as well as AI finished yesterday. Today I already did most of the sfx and many 3d models!

Too sad the rooms are mostly dark!3d37_1

Got so much done, but I chose a very ambitious game idea…

Basically, one room is lit and you can change that in a control room, you can only do stuff in rooms with light (eg. fix the engine of the ship), but action also happens in the dark!

Rooms are created and lights organized. Now turn them on and off, also possibly add doors…

So I woke up early and needed 1.5 h to come up with some ideas. I didn’t really like the theme but now the game is sketched out and I am optimistic! It’s a genre I never did before so it will be fun!

The idea is that only one room has an active light source and the visible room changes. In dark areas sound could be your information source (maybe visual sound). The game should be staged on a big ship and modern pirates are hijacking it. You are having problems with the machine room (don’t know how this will work yet) and there is one locked room (maybe). Maybe the storm outside will throw things inside around (because of strong waves). So many maybes. What do you think?

TerraShift Top 25!

So this was my second Ludum Dare and after the last time I was unsure if I would be able to improve my results. Apparently TerraShift is 11# in graphics and also achieved top 25 overall! (Last time I got into top 50)

I am super happy with the results and cannot wait for the next LD…

So, Day 2 has started for me and this is what I have so far. The player has to shapeshift the world to make the village survive and expand.  Now just add the Village Mechanics, Special Events, Natural Disasters, polish the graphics, do music and sfx and do the menus… Can´t take too long, can it?

Wild Growth has been making some progress recently!

Upgraded visuals of the levels and walls, implemented 2D dynamic lighting, tweaked controls a bit and working on adding some new features to make for more interesting and intuitive puzzles.

Also trying to make the gameplay more relaxing and not stressed because of narrow corridors, but keeping it challenging… Performance optimization to make for a smooth experience on Android, better UI still to go…WildGrowthPM1

First game jam ever and I think I can be very proud of the results! After all this is the biggest online game jam and it is worldwide. Thank you to everyone who rated Wild Growth! During the future months I will polish my game and add some more content to it and you will be able to find it on the Google Play Store (but that will be a future post).
