Hey quick update, I have a very early build online. It is unity webplayer, so it does not work in Chrome. I chose it because it is very small to upload.

Here it is: http://gamejolt.com/games/the-snowball-effect/113120 or http://lordskaven.itch.io/the-snowball-effect

Please leave feedback here.

This update was brought to you by procrastination.

Quick Update.

I have implemented a Main menu and audio managing. Busy working on the first level, most of the work done on it will carry over to the others. I am planning 6 levels at the moment two per difficulty, may add more if time allows. My original plan was to use Unity terrains to create the levels but they dont allow the slopes I need. My current plan is to use planes and manually align them. Does anyone know of a simpler and more efficient method to create a ski slope type model or level?

Also I am going to have to write a chase cam, so will have to check tutorials and the unity example project for that.

Also going to work on a way to make a object increase in Scale based on distance travelled.

Also I might have to switch to the Jam as I need a snow texture for the game to make sense but I am currently not able to make a decent looking snow texture, maybe there is a quick tutorial on making one.

A small hint as to what my game is about, the title of the game is “The snowball effect”.

A platform build target question.

Hey LDers,

I have a question relating to what I should target x86 or x86_64.

I am using unity and am planning to release my game on the following platforms:

Web player, WebGL, Windows, Mac and Linux.

My question is whether it really makes a difference whether i build for 32 or 64 bit. From what I understand 32 bit can run on both versions but 64 only works on 64. Am I correct in this assumption for all my listed platforms?

I will only have like a gb of data available for the jam so I am trying to decide what builds will cover the most ground.

Also does anyone have a suggestion for a small program I can use to create audio for my game as that is area where I have very little experience.

Thanks for listening

I am in, this will be my fifth time. I started in 29 and took a break in 33 due to burnout and laziness. But now I am back and I am ready. Although I will possibly be unable to work for twelve hours on Sunday.

So my tools will be:

Engine: Unity 5.3

Language: C#

Audio: Not sure I dont have a lot of experience here. Any suggestions?

Energy drink: Dragon

Alcohol: Tequila

Snacks: Chutney potato chips

Music: METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you all the best in the best game jam ever!

Legend of the Barber Post-mortem

Hello this is the post-mortem for Legend of the Barber.

I started on Monday morning 8 am CAT as although I wanted to work on it the whole weekend. I was too tired to actually do it, in fact I slept a total of 30 hours on the weekend.

So for the first few hours till noon I was scripting like crazy(in my programming 121 class coincidentally).

From about 10 past 12 I continued with the code, creating the various scriptable objects I used as the base for all the enemies, weapons and potions. At this time I didn’t even have a name for my game or know what type of weapons I will have.

I went to dinner at 17:30 as I had not eaten the whole day. I then worked on adding sound to the game(the music can be found here).

I then finally came up with the concept that is now in the game.

So in total I spent around 11 hours from 8 am till 7 pm working on the game and that was almost a continuous period.

I personally believe it is one of my best games so far and only the second out of four entries in Ludum dare that I completed to my satisfaction.

I will be back next time, maybe with a team.

I might keep working on the game but it will forms a nice basis to a game that I am planning to work on with people from my university.

tl;dr Play the game

Good bye, and thanks for listening
