Multiplayer syncing + attacks + life points + hit effects + blue foxes!

Multiplayer takes so much time with a language you’re not familiar with @_@

Introducing… the various archetypes! Soldier, Farmer, and Knight!

Small progress

After a good night of sleep, we’re back in business!

Small progress, trying to wire everything for combat: attacks, hits, life points, yadda yadda.

Refining the world a little more:

world

We’ve cut the planet in 4 quarters that we will duplicate, so the game is less heavy.

Since we’re French, we’ve also allocated some time to go vote this morning, because it’s important!

Next up: gathering food!

Multiplayer! OMG!

After a few excruciating and painful hours, multiplayer is now implemented! yay!

Perfect time to integrate a very simple attack animation and feel good about ourselves:

Also trying to find a render for the world that matches the characters but won’t be too long to draw:

Midnight calls, time for us two to stop for the night! We value our fragile sleep schedule above all ☺️

Good luck everyone!!

Hats!

Not much to show with pretty gifs, we’re implementing multiplayer (gasp!) and having dinner.

So take 2 screenshots of something that makes every game 20% cooler: hats!

It moves!

Well this one was moving a BIT too fast

rotating planet

Now it’s all better! And with parallax!

moving fox

Added a little pawprint so the player knows where they are moving to. We want to make it mouse-only, to make things simple and maybe have something mobile-friendly eventually.

The character is now refined, nicely pupetted, and done in two versions!

It’s concept art / placeholder time!

concept art foxes

We want all players to be cute little foxes, in a small world where two factions, the foxes and arctic foxes, are at war. Each faction will control a small segment of the spherical world, and will have to battle the other faction for control of all the segments.

This will need resources, and players will start as farmers. They’ll have to gather enough food and ore to make soldiers, then improve them to annihilate the other team.

One player in each team will be elected the Fox Goddess, and will help their faction towards victory through almighty powers!

Placeholder elements so we have something nice to look at while programming and debugging:

We’re in!

Team Souris reporting in!

We’re a team of two, programmer and artist. We’ve made some jams before, but not as a team.
We like multiplayer games the most, so the challenge will be to make a multiplayer game in less than two days!

(totally feasible!)

We’ve fleshed out all the mechanics in a Trello board, and we’re starting production now.

Tools and languages:

  • PixiJS
  • IntelliJ IDEA
  • Some LUA
  • Photoshop
  • Trello

And it’s done!
