lander game thingie

lander game thingie

You pilot a lander with 10 seconds of fuel. You need to recover several items, but depending on your level of skill you won’t have fuel to recover them all. Maybe you have to choose between rescuing some engineers or recovering some much-needed supplies, with gamey and nongamey reasons to recover one over the other. Maybe there will be a few levels strung together by my first attempt at (gasp) narrative, giving some kind of weight to your choices.

I only had a few hours to participate in Ludum Dare this weekend, so I haven’t gotten really far. I don’t think I’ll get much further; maybe just make some kind of end condition, and make the AI actually try to intercept missiles instead of just shooting randomly into the air.

If you can’t tell, it’s basically just reverse missile command. I had all sorts of other ideas to make it a bit more interesting, but I’ll only have the time to implement one or two of them.

stack::tracer() is complete!

I wish I had more time to figure out a good camera angle. It’s hard to figure out how you should construct bigger stacks and where you’ll end up landing. Thankfully, you have a dropshadow which goes down to the lowest stack level of the current level, so you’re not clueless.

You will probably want to turn down the volume, bfxr is kind of on the loud side and I didn’t really have time to tweak the sounds afterwards.
