We have further developed Flobe into a full game!

Now with added content, including new enemies, increased levels of difficulty, extremely challenging bonus rounds and KEYBOARD CONTROLS!

Due to the major changes we have made and the massive amount of content we have added, we have removed the download option from our Itch.io page (voting on our game had pretty much stopped anyway).  We didn’t want our game to be judged on it’s current state, and with all the development we’ve been doing, we didn’t really have time to do a Post-Mortem for Ludum Dare.  We thought it was best to just remove the download option and be very happy with the Ludum Dare votes we did get.

We have however, taken our newly expanded version of Flobe to Steam Greenlight!

We would greatly appreciate our fellow Ludumites to please go visit our Greenlight page and cast us a vote.

Whew!!! We Got ‘Em Both Done!!!

So we made 2 games this year!

So we decided that since we were starting LD34 this year with some pre-existing code…Forever Humble PDX was going to attempt to make 2 games.
Project management is one of my specialties, so I’ve split our guys up into two teams, Tonal Recall Games & Skinny Jean Death Studios. My son is programming on both projects (he’s 14, this is his 4th LD)….as if just getting one working wasn’t going to be hard enough.
We chose to go with to work with both themes, however there really wasn’t any specifics to 2 Button Controls. We’ve seen some people are making games that utilize both buttons on the mouse, but still incorporate mouse movement as well, so we are taking the aporoach that the d-pad doesn’t count.
Both of our projects will be made for use with gamepad only.
One of them is being designed with NES controller design…so it will function with d-pad and two buttons. The other is keeping to xbox/ps controller design….using only the analog sticks to control.
The artists are hard at work, the programmers are kicking ass….I’m heading off to the studio to get some music done.

I split my guys up into 2 teams and off we went!

Getting Ambitious

We’ve been working on an idea for a lil while now. Have some source code already established, but have been struggling with a demo because we could not make a final decision on controls. I’ve been wanting to go NES style with only 2 buttons, but it was something we just could not agree on. Then bam, here comes LD with the 2 button theme. This was enough for me to convince my partner to give it a shot. So here we go, let’s see if we can get a demo running. Guess I better call my artist. Lol.
We will be using Gamemaker.
I have no idea what software the artist uses.
Edit:
Artist uses autodesk sketchbook pro
Animator uses photoshop

The Hand That Feeds was developed for Ludum Dare 32 by team Octopus Mélange.

Our team was made up of complete strangers, brought together by game designer Nicholas Cunningham for this challenge.

For Unconventional Weapon theme….we chose our pet.

We developed a gameplay where you fight off attacking enemies by tossing snacks for your pet. He happens to love his snacks….I feel sorry for anyone that gets in his way.

We are aware of gameplay, control and feels that we still want to improve. We are doing so. In the next few days we will provide you with a link for the rest of the levels that we built during the game jam. The level you are seeing now…is more of a composition of many of the things we accomplished during the jam. We always had intention of presenting you with a more developed demo following the jam.

Our team enjoyed this experience enough that we’re scratching the code and starting again. We will be developing this game to full content…and will bring it to your computers and consoles in the very near future.

I hope you enjoy this as much as we did.
