LD Jam #37: One Room, An RPG Text Adventure

Hi All-

This is my first time participating in Ludum Dare (and one of the first games I’ve made ever, for that matter), so here goes:

I created a game using RPG Maker VX Ace as a library. The game is very short (takes about five minutes to complete), and features some simple puzzles and  incredibly witty dialogue*.

My goal was to create a short and engaging, narrative within the confines of a single room. I spent some time trying to decide how to create a game that used the “One Room” theme, and I decided to simply keep the entire game in a single room. That said, there are various items you can interact with, and ultimately your goal is to escape the room. My primary goals were to complete the challenge within the allotted time, and create a game that, while short, is entertaining. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

*May not actually be very witty

I’ve uploaded the game to Google Drive, and there are two ways to get it:

  1. Easiest way: Download my game (Includes Source) using this google drive link:
    1. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2srgu-eQ9VzWUJvNEhHeXVUTjg
    2. Double click the EXE, and choose where to unpack
    3. There should be an application called Game.exe inside the unpacked folder. Open it up, and you should be good.
  2. Smaller Package: If you already have RPGMaker VX Ace, or want to Download it separately, you can get my game by itself (3 MB) here:
    1. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2srgu-eQ9VzWnQ3Xzl2dkIzSDA
    2. If you don’t already have the required libraries (RPGMaker VX ACE RTP), you can download them here:
    3. http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/additional/run-time-packages

The game is 188 Mb, but my unique content is only about 3Mb. The other 185 Mb is for the RPG Maker VX ACE Libraries.
