We are in

So after myself and Kelvin Put pondered the theme a bit we feel that we have finally pinned down something we are both happy with. We will be making a fairly simple tamagotchi-like where you only get one pet and if you kill it that’s it, no more for you. The one twist we both really like is that closing your browser window kills the pet for good.

We want to keep the game play fairly simple, feed your pet, clean your pet, a few mini games etc. and just focus on seeing how much style we can make this game bleed and how polished of an experience we can make as that will be really good practice for our current project.

I guess I’m in. I am quite busy this weekend and don’t have much time so I will probably just make some colors for you to walk around in in 3D. I’ll be using actionscript and whatever this is will most likely turn into a trip sequence for my current project The Dezert.

I’ve been itching to make a game in Nape (http://napephys.com/) the past few days so that is what I am going to do.

I am gonna make a platformer where you kill all the things.

That’s pretty evil right?

physicszone

I’ve got the physics engine doing the bitch work, the levels being created by a level design elf in your computer, and player movement is satisfactory for now.

Play it here – http://www.netgrindgames.com/cale/LD25.swf

arrow keys / restart for a new map

BTW, I am cheating a little and using a map generating class from a few weeks ago and as such I feel I should toss it out into the breeze for anyone to grab if they wish. The code is in as3 but the logic (messy, weird, logic) could be translated to anything with loops and arrays – http://pastebin.com/berEzMT9

Now off to bed. Pumped for tomorrow!
