We finished in time! In 3D! Kind of!

We took it upon ourselves to try and make something in 3D this time whilst simultaneously learning Unity. Turns out a timed game jam is a bad time to learn new software. Either way we got this little project complete which you can play here [Chamber of the Monster]. We had a lot of fun this Ludum Dare, particularly as I was able to make models instead of just pixel art. The room with the chambers was originally a large hall with 6 rooms, but as a result of a break in the last hours, we were forced to reduce it to a single chamber. You can see some screenshots of the original layout here [1 , 2]. It may not be what we had originally planned, but at least we got something “playable” submitted and still gained the experience.

Here’s to LD34 😀

This time around I’ll be teaming up with Moldfire to enter the Jam together as this will be my last LD before I go to university. I will still try to enter on my own once I’m there but this is the last opportunity for us to work together. This will be our 4th Ludum Dare and look forward to a great weekend. Happy coding!

Finished! Submitted at 1:55 last night

I just barley got my game “finished” last night. It was a struggle and I was sitting in the kitchen at 1 in the morning recording some guitar on audacity trying not to fall asleep.

Well the game is super short and a bit weird, hopefully you understand what you supposed to do at the end because the game doesn’t tell you flat out.

Play it here: The Messenger

Good job everyone, see you in …June? I’ve finished with flash and I am going to try to learn Unity during the Summer so I can start making 3D games.

Character needs a bit of animation and my level needs decorating, but the base collisions and platforming code is in place. 15 hours left! :]

I’ve finished off my final game and I’ve submitted. You can find my entry here Santa’s Stock Up.

So this was my 2nd Ludum Dare, my first being the jam for LD30 in a team called The Lag Pack where we created Escape Earth.

This time I entered solo in the comp and had a brilliant time. I played it fairly safe, making a very simple catcher style game since I’ve only recently begun using Action Script.

Bring on LD32!

How to share code?

My games all ready and im about to submit, but this is the first time I’ve entered the compo so I dont know how to share my code. I can use quick swf to allow people to play my game, but how do I actually share the source code?

Day 2

At this point my game is fairly completed, I just have a few things to tweek and possibly add. I need to finish off a few more final graphics and decide what I’m doing with my sounds. I made a really nice tune using one of the online synths, but once it downloaded it as a midi, it sounded like garbage. Luckily I managed to use Audacity to get a perfect quality version of my song, so all’s good.

So this will be my 2nd Ludum Dare. I took part in LD30 with a couple of friends under the team name The Lag Pack and made out first attempt at a game called Escape Earth. However, since then I have been learning to use Flash and Action Script 3, so I’m wanting to test out my new Flash skills and will therefor be entering solo this time.
