I’ve finally submitted my entry: Double Cannon.

I’ve also added global scoreboard (it uses mochi API), here is a picture:

This is the bullet hell! In fact, it is an upgrade system that still needs some balancing πŸ˜‰

Upgrades

Today I’ve implemented some experience and upgrades system for cannons and created some really nice background music. The game is starting to look and feel very nice!

upgrades0

You get experience when you hit enemies (of course you get only one xp point per hit πŸ˜‰ ), and when your cannons level up they shoot faster, and every fifth level they get one extra bullet per shoot.

Still left to do: other enemy types and high scores (maybe I would add some global leaderboard if time allows!).

Enemies from both sides and particles

The enemies come from both sides now and explode with particles :)

cannons2

More enemy types and cannons upgrades based on experience planned. I’d like to do the most of the gameplay today, because tomorrow I want to focus on composing the music.

Yeah, enemies!

Wait, double??! Oh, you get only one at each side, of course πŸ˜‰

And you will probably have only one life, of course…

Seriously, I hate this theme 😐

I’m in

It will be my 3rd LD.

I am going to make a game using Flashpunk or libgdx – it depends on the game type – Tuxguitar for music, sfxr for sound effects and GIMP for graphics.

Despite having lots of other stuff to do this weekend, I am determined to finish it.

Good luck everyone and please don’t vote for ‘You only get one’!

The Ancient Eye – published!

I have finished my game and uploaded it to Kongregate today. Now I am waiting for the 1$ (or 25$ in fact, because it is the minimum to get payed anything πŸ˜‰ )

You can play it here – thanks for anyone who will play it – and see you on LD#28 :)

The Ancient Eye

When I first saw that there’s some October Challenge on LD page, I thought I don’t have a time for this… But then I read the rules and realized that I am already working on a game that fits this challenge! It’s a flash game I started to make in July and I already have planned to publish it on Kongregate this month, and eventually earn a few bucks. I must say that participating in last two LD’s (#26 and #27) was a big motivation for me to keep working on my game (not to mention the experience I gained). The thing is that this game is already about 95% done – I just need to design last two worlds and do some final polish – but I hope it is still ok for the October Challenge.

Well, something about the game now. The title is

The Ancient Eye

and it is some kind of shooter/defense game. Basically you are the giant, ancient, magic eyeball and have to fight against hordes of different enemies that come in waves (there would be 10 worlds, 6 waves in each). After each wave you visit the shop and buy weapons – and that is the most important element of this game. Diffirent weapons have diffirent powers and strike areas, so you have to choose the most suitable weapons to deal with different enemies types and their configurations – and this is the key to victory. Sounds easy, but you usually you don’t have much time to think about strategy when you are surrounded by enemies. Enough of speaking, here are some screenshots:

I think I will publish this game inΒ  about two weeks – so stay tuned!

My Ludum Favorites

Ok, I have managed to rate 92 entries and I probably will not have time to make it to the 100, but I would really like to share my list of favorite entries with you.

Best 5 of COMPO:

1. Exposure by zillix

Amazing universe created in 48 hours, you must play it!

2. Ten 2nd’s by Night57

The idea is simple – be 2nd in ten races, but the level design is very smart – it made me laugh and loose many times!

3. Badger Bolt! by SteveSalmond

Really interesting game, beautiful graphics, nice mood and a little strange (in a positive way!)

4. Meowfinity and Beyond by Cryovat

Great platform game with some really fine puzzles!

5. Flippin’ Matrix by DaVince

Crazy adventures of an old man and his inner ninja! I really like the idea behind it.

And Best 5 of JAM:

1. Hyper Furball by DDRKirby(ISQ)

This game has cat, tons of upgrades, boss and hyper mode – do I need to say anything more?

2. Every 10 Seconds a Window Washer Falls to his Death by dom2d

One of the most dynamic and addictive games – kick birds and save window washers!

3. 10 seconds left, Mr. Pink Rabbit! – Lightmare Studio

Help Mr Rabbit do his shopping – the quality of this game is just amazing!

4. Adventures of Schrodinger’s cat by Cryunreal

Another game about cat – very pleasant and well balanced platformer.

5. Step Out by bitserum

Beautiful and relaxing puzzle-platformer. Everything is extremely polished in this game.

Also big thanks for everyone who played and rated my game: 10 Seconds and The Wizard.

I didn’t like the theme at all, but finally I’m done. 2 hours before the end of compo, as usual :)

I’ve made some kind of point-and-click adventure. The rest is for you to discover.

You can play it here.

I’m in again

Hello everyone,

I guess it is the right time to say ‘I’m in’ for the second time! But this time I’m going to use Flashpunk instead of Javascript and HTML5.

Generally, I am working alone, so I would probably submit under compo rules, but I will consider taking one extra day and submiting for jam if the theme will be really inspiring.

Good luck everyone!

Yeah, I’ve finally finished, approximately 90 minutes before deadline. I’m very happy because of at least three reasons:

1. I managed to submit a game!

2. I really like my own entry – even after spending last two days with it, it is still nice to play for me.

3. I had so much fun participating in Ludum Dare – surely come back for the next one.

You can see my entry, ‘Neverending Bricks’, here.
