About malcolmt

Long-time coder (I'm probably older than you), short time game competition entrant. Live mostly in Sydney, Australia, but have a well-stamped passport.

I'm a programming language junkie and like keeping my skills current on quite a few at a time, so I'm constantly switching around which language I use for fun projects.

Ready for Ludum Dare 20

Wasn’t particularly prepared for this theme, but c’est la vie. Fortunately, the competition starts at midday for me (Sydney, Australia), so I’ve had time to get up and about. Woke up this morning with the thought that I wanted to write something 2D in HTML/Javascript, using the canvas element. Let’s see how that works out.

Not shown in photo: refrigerator full of fruits and vegetables. It’s the healthy attack! (hmm … maybe it could be dangerous to go alone without fruits and vegetables?!)

Haven’t participated in a LD before. Done the prep a couple of times (voted, etc) and then had the weekend sabotaged by life or work. But… this time for sure. Probably.

Not sure if I’ll use Python + PyOpenGL or Java + LWJGL or something else at the moment. Former is a little more natural for me, but harder to package for distribution on Windows and Mac, given I develop on Linux. GIMP, Inkscape and MyPaint for 2D artwork, Blender for 3D. SFXR for things that go boom or squish.
