I can’t believe I actually finished my Jam entry: PET RUN/STOP

I made a game! It’s called PET RUN/STOP.

PET RUN/STOP

I learned a lot in the past few days.

The game had the problem of the player running into just spawned enemies, dying a totally unfair death. I lost a couple of hours to this problem, thinking that I could solve it by checking the player’s position while spawning enemies, or spawning them at a minimum distance away from the player. The solution was to just display a small indicator for a few seconds where enemies would appear, giving the player a chance to react.

Super simple stuff. A neat side effect is that this also vastly improved the overall feel of the game.
