Ohh no… It’s far from done. But I had to call this a day so the compo ends for me now.

Pure java. I was really stupid to think that I was able to make such a complex idea in 48 hours without any engines. Well the result is a really short, buggy but actually a fun game. If I used an engine it would have been so much better. Next time I think I’ll team up with developer friends for the jam so I can concentrate on just the programming and I’ll be able to use my own game engine.

Come on compo people who are still in! You can do it! And also have fun jam people! 😀

I’ve just finished level 1 (was too busy drawing) so it’s time to build some really hard puzzle levels.

I’ve implemented the game mechanics, optimized a bit, tweaked the code, made some graphics but my game is nowhere so far!

I’m drawing some enemies. Who are the enemies of monsters? Heroes of course! And a knight is pretty much a hero… right? :)

Not too much, but you can stand on the bird (it falls down once it’s stone) when it turns back and it will lift you up! What I see is a lot of level ideas 😀 .

You are with the medusa. If you get to close something it will turn into stone and (if it was in the air, like this bird) fall down. I’m really far behind, I have to get faster if I want to finish this.

I’ve finally got an idea so I can start implementing the game logic. It’s gonna be a bit different approach. It’s going to be a puzzle game 😀  (but being a monster is still important).

My game base (well it’s a framework) is done. I can load tilemaps, draw, everything… Now time to bang my head against the wall for ideas.

So far I have absolutely no idea for the game so I’ve started coding the basic stuff. So far I have a game loop, state machine and image rendering. Still better than nothing…

  • Java (no external libs possibly)
  • Paint (I prefer pixelart, I’m not an artist)
  • FL studio / audacity for music and sounds

So this is going to be my second LD and I’m going to stream for the first time. As the first time, I’ll participate in the compo. I’m planning to use plain java and I’ll try to explain what I can.

A bit about me: I’m 17 and I’ve been programming for 7 years now. I’m not a game developer, I’m more interested in other tasks (for example I’ve created a multitasking kernel and my own programming language interpreter) but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy making games. Games made me start programming so they will stay my passion. During the stream I hope I can show some good design practices but due to time shortage I’m sure I’ll write some horribly hacked code.

The stream will start possibly half an hour before LD starts. My english will be far from perfect :) .
