Mini LD 65: The ugly bunny POST MORTEM

If you haven’t played the game yet try so here ->

This was one of the first times I have used Unity to make a 3d game rather than a 2d game and I am very happy with the result. I had never used Unity Terrain before and I am quite happy with how the map looks. Despite having very limited time with real life commitments and even posting the game a day late O_o, I am very happy with the gameplay and I think most people should be able to have a good 5 minutes of fun.

If you play that game please leave a comment

Thanks in advance Logan

I didn’t intend on entering Ludum Dare 34 because I thought I was going to be busy all weekend with college work. I didn’t have as much time as I wanted too but I’m still pretty happy with the game. In terms of programming challenges there was nothing too hard that I did this time round. I wanted to play around with shaders but I didn’t really get the time. Thanks to everyone who played.

Fire Fight: Ludum dare 33 post mortem

For our ludum dare we had a team of 4
-2 Programmers (one of them being me)
-1 Artist
-1 Music/sound guy

This was a very interesting ludum dare for me to pull off.

What went well:
In terms of computer programs everything went pretty smoothly. Visual studio and unity worked almost all of the time and I had almost no trouble merging code which has been a problem in the past

What went badly:

The physics engine: I had no idea where to begin with how to code the physics engine for this game. A 2.5D game is nothing I have ever really pictured making. About halfway through the ludum dare I had to recode the entire physics engine which took quite a lot of time and I am relatively happy with the end result.

Making storyline scenes is hard: This is something which I wish we had a little more time to perfect rather than just having some comic strips and then going straight into the action. I like the player to have choice and to be able to make decisions. Sadly doing this requires writing very specific scripts which don’t take up too much time in a normal sense but during a ludum dare take quite awhile.

Staying awake: In the timezone I’m in the ludum dare finished at 1pm. On the last day I stayed up all night and by about 7am I was practically completely out of energy I managed to code for about another 3 hours and then just fell asleep. I feel sorry for our other program which had to finish off the extras but even if I stayed awake I don’t think I would have been much help.

Looking for an artist/animator (Unity)

I’m looking for a 2d artist that knows how to animate in unity 2d. I’ve posted some work below from the artist I’ve used in the past. I’m happy for any art style but I want someone who has experience in unity and will be willing to spend most of their weekend on Ludum Dare.

Once we have an artist we will be a team of 4.

2 programers, 1 music/sound guy and an artist.

Mini LD #57 Rebound

Introduction: This is my 3rd game jam and my very first ludum dare or mini ludum dare. I have participated in 2 global game jams before and have enjoyed them thoroughly. This will be my first game in unity but I have worked with XNA in the past. I will be working with a group with one other coder which is more experienced with unity than me and an artist.

The idea:
The game is similar to Touhou and is a bullet hell styled game with a twist. In the game you will have a shield that rotates around you that reflects bullets. These reflected bullets are the way you kill enemies. It contains multiple bosses each with their own unique challenges.

What went well

  • I actually got some sleep 😀
  • Pretending we did well before we even started

What went wrong:

  • We didn’t end up having music if anyone wants to join us in making music particularly looking for some boss music you can contact me on (Dont be shy)
