Some ideas for those who have none

Posted by

Unfortunate I’m not able to participate this time, but I still might help with some ideas:

A runner with the goal to go around a planet. The view gradually becomes upside down halfway through (like Australia)

You’re stuck in a small house full of secrets. Your goal is to get out only to find out the outside is just a bigger house

A cool mechanic would be to start in a small world that keeps growing (borders moving out) as you explore and find stuff.

You control a spaceship in a big cluster of small planets. You carefully land on them to refuel/get food. Gravity rules apply

Also I tweet ideas @73lion123

I’m in – Community Challenge

So yeah, I’m in. Tools:

OpenFL (openfl.org), maybe some framework for openfl, GIMP, LMMS, Tiled map editor (in case I make the game tile-based), FlashDevelop as an IDE. Also I upgraded for Win10, Let’s see how development goes with it :)

This time I came up with another challenge for myself (and maybe others). And it’s on a whole new level.

The Challenge: I’ll try to contribute to the LD community as much as I can: help people in IRC, post progress updates, share ideas… You should try that too! 😀

#144 Overall. Thanks!

[ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: Ludum Dare on my birthday]

My tools will be HaxeFlixel, GIMP, LMMS, Tiled.

I’ll challenge myself to make better graphics.
And change genre to something different (my 30 and 31 entries were platformers).
Maybe invent a new genre. That would be cool.

P.S: Oh, yeah, almost forgot: I hope next theme will be better.

“Out of bounds” game and thoughts on the theme

EntireLD31OnOneScreen

There’s a lot I would like to say about this theme, but I decided to write it on my own blog. My thoughts on LD31 theme

I’m going to keep it nice and short. My game is about NES games, where everything going off of screen is deleted. So you have to stay on the screen and survive for as long as you can. Various enemies are trying to push you off.

Sandbox time travelling game in 2 days

One simply cannot create a game with placing/breaking blocks, time travelling, time paradoxes, crafting system and sandbox genre with an end goal. But I did. Kinda.

What the game’s about?

Planet rescuers is a sandbox-style game, where you play as a robot who was departed to an unknown planet with a time travelling machine. Your mission is to change future in order to get rid of strange creatures who will cause some problems.
Gameplay: You can break and place blocks in a 2D world. In the center of the map there’s a time machine which can send you to the future or to the past. The block that you placed in the past will stay when you’ll go back to the future. Metal will rust, trees will grow. Look at this comparison picture:

Past-Future-Comparison

But if you break a block that was destroyed in the future, you’ll get a paradox. Paradoxes highly destabilize planet, so try not to create lots of them. Also, robot needs energy to move/jump/travel through time/craft/place blocks/mine blocks. Soon you will start running out of given energy. At this point you will need some generators. (currently, there are only 2 working generators: solar (place it with no blocks above) and heat (place it underground as deep as you can to get more energy).

After making this game I can say that the hardest part for me was GUI. This time I spent a lot of time on it, and it still looks awful. Also had no time for an sounds/music, so feel free to play your own music while playing my game 😀

My plans and tools for LD 30!

Hello everyone!

Last LD I had very little time because of different stuff getting in the way. I didn’t go farther than generating an idea. Hopefully this time I’ll be able to finish my entry.

Since I’ve never actually finished a game during Ludum Dare, this can be considered my first LD compo! Yay 😀

I’ll be using:

My Software is pretty standart:

  • HaxeDevelop FlashDevelop for haxe developing
  • GIMP for image manipulating
  • AS3SFXR for sound fx generating
  • Git Extensions for extending Git
  • DAME for tilemap creating (combo breaker?)

My plans

My plans for this time are very humble: just post something. Yep. Don’t want to spend a lot of time trying to create a masterpiece. My goal is to learn what part of the process will be most time consuming (even though i already know it’s art and sounds/music).

Thanks for the #LD30 contest

And also to everyone reading this entry. I hope I made you smile while reading this 😀
