Having gotten started about 12 hours after the theme was announced, then spending about 4 hours thinking about what I could possibly do with “10 Seconds” that wasn’t already being done, I got an idea about light. Being a physicist (or at least sort of) I thought about what 10 seconds would be like to light. Then scrapped that Idea, put fingers to keyboard and came up with the start of a game. Now to just make it playable…

I’m in.

Spent the day getting a nice fresh Eclipse ADT bundle set up just the way I like it. Then I started to make a playlist! Gotta love Google music!

Google Music Playlist

Playlist for LD27

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

Framework: Libgdx

Graphics: Paint.net

Sound Effects: BFXR

Music: Undecided; Could just be my mouth and a microphone…

Coffee: Black

Well don’t I suck at music and whatnot

So I didn’t get to start until about 3pm this afternoon (BST). I’ve made a decent-ish amount of progress in the last 12 hours but 2 thing’s are still eluding me. One, being a name and another being any kind of musical talent.

Main Menu Screenshot

Placeholder name, and no, that does NOT say sex…

“Growth” is only there temporarily until a better name is chosen. If anyone want’s to

ūüėĬ†PLAY THIS¬†ūüėÄ

and give me a bit of constructive feedback that would be greatly appreciated. I would estimate it’s about a fifth done, but the rest shouldn’t take long…I hope. Each level will be a slightly different mechanic, the game evolves as the player does. (Starts off single celled, then progresses to being an appendage, then a set of legs, then a person, then who knows)

Sleep now. Good luck all

I’m In

This is the second time that I’m entering. Last time I was too¬†ambitious¬†and got lost in all the small details. Having read some of the fine articles on the LD reddit, namely this one, I ¬†think this time I might just be able to finish this thing!

My plan is to get the mechanics down in the first 6 hour stint with place holder graphics and then just go nuts making all the assets I need to make. Having never really added music to a game before I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good music creation tool that’s free, or at least free trial (lets keep it legal)?

Language: Java

Framework: Libgdx 0.9.6, get it here

Graphics: Paint.net, get it here

Sound Effects: BFXR, get it here

Music: Unsure (Hoping for some community advice on this)

I am very excited about this! (I just don’t want 1000 cats to win haha)

Tiny worlds you say?

So the theme is Tiny worlds and the first thing I thought was quite literally of a tiny planet. An hour in and I have a firm plan in place and one or two assets drawn. Take a little look see (bare in mind that I am not an artist of any kind! Judge my artistic ability like you would a 3 year olds!)

Time-lapse Screen Capture!

Hey, starts soon! VERY EXCITED!

Was just wondering if someone could recommend some good time-lapse screen capping software for me to use over the weekend?

My preference is of course for free software! But I’m always willing to pay money if it’s good!

First time Ludum Dare, I’m in!

This is going to be my first Ludum Dare and i’m pretty excited!

I’ve been looking through all the themes and voting. I have¬†vague¬†ideas of what I’d do for about a third of the final themes. I think my main problem is going to be controlling scope; Mainly being too optimistic about what I can achieve in such a short time.

Language: Java, using either LWJGL or Libgdx. (I’m more familiar with Libgdx but it is a bit constrained for some things)

IDE: Eclipse FTW!

Graphics: Paint.net

Audio: BFXR

Caffeine source: Black, black coffee

Distraction: SWTOR and netflix()

Good Luck all!
