I’m a bit exhausted coding all yesterday, so I’m not so productive today (good point of the jam, others are still in good mood 😀 )… And need a little more sleep (or coffee :) )

So, the core features are finished, just need some graphics and sounds now. The big point of yesterday was to make something that generate level on start. Well it takes me a lot of time and I needed to simplify my first idea. So the result isn’t exactly what I wanted but no time to fix my problems (maybe for a next game, I really love the generating level stuff 😀 ).




Let’s eat now, I’m starving ! (Other good point of the jam, no need to worry about food \o/)

As I said on my previous (and first ludum dare), this time I’m in team for the jam !

So I participate with Tyu and Wysk , we’re student from a french video game school.

We will use :

  • Unity 3D / Javascript
  • 3Ds Max
  • Photoshop
  • Audacity

Little trick – sound effect

It seems like the majority of people who played my entry find out that the atmosphere and the wind noise are fine.

Well, I made it by making some random moves on Audacity, so if it can help some people in the future, I’m happy to share this little trick :)

-Open Audacity,
Generate a noise (white)
-apply a WhaWha effect (you can choose your parameters, but it seems like “Wha Frequency Offset” is better with more than 60%)
– apply Change Speed (I’ve used something like -60%, and repeat it until I’ve made something which convince me)
– Add a new audio track (ctrl + shift + n)
Copy/Past your noise on this new track, with a very little gap
– Put the first track on “Left Channel”, the second on “Right Channel”
-Export it  😉

(Try to modify, appropriate this to make exactly what you want! [for example, apply more whawha with different LFO frequency to make a more complicated sounds])

Well, the game was pretty hard to play, so I’ve made some changes, and I think now it’s much easier to play it :) !


I’ve also made a timelapse :
(no music, you’ll have to put your own, sorry for that :/)


And I think that some people just don’t get the link with the theme, so :

The word evolution comes from Latin, meaning unrolling

(Well, I don’t really know if it’s actually fit the theme, but in the end, there is also a kind of evolution from the start to the end of the game, no ?)


Last hint : try to click on the logo on the menu screen 😉 !

First LD finished – Post mortem

Hi ! That was my first Ludum Dare and it was very interesting :) !

I’ll make some modifications soon to make it easier to play
For those who don’t really get how playing it (my bad, no more time to improve control and add tutorial),  I’ve just recorded this video :

What went right :

-I’ve made a game in less than 48h
-I manage to sleep a little
-First contact in this side of Ludum Dare

What went wrong :

-To much time lost in some features because of lack of knowledge
-No more time to change the controls, game is pretty difficult to play I think
-No more time to  polish more the game, more sounds, effects, challenge…

What to do next time :

-Be more prepared (tools, libraries, …)
-Post more about the development
-Maybe try the Jam instead of Compo?
