level design: If I use java, most likely just hardcoded.

Hey all. Today I got out of bed expecting to go to school. Not so. There was so much snow that I cant even get out of the driveway 😛

Our tv is out because its snowing so hard (only in canada) and about the only thing that does work is the internet, and my computers. I have been thinking about what to do for the day (too snowy to take a walk, I have no more books on my kindle (and I cant get reception with that either) and I live to rural to be able to walk and do anything :P)

So what am I to do?


I really enjoyed entering in the compo this weekend, and I realise that there are still a few hours left in the jam.



So, being really cockey, I decided to make as many games as possible in the next 5 hours. My goal is at least 3.

Dont expect me to be able to do it, but I want to see if I can.

My game is completely, utterly, unarguably, finished. I think that it might be the best game I have ever made too!

I know that I said that I would upload a demo earlier. I diddnt. I overslept last night, so I only had time to finish it.

anywho, its a platform shooter, unlike anything you’ve ever seen before (no really, the game is really….. odd)

The fact that I got 4.5 hours of sleep last night, coupled with just the right amount of coffee, has left me pleasantly refreshed, even after a day of work. I had salmon and creme cheese on a bagel for breakfast, grilled cheese for lunch and I am going to have some chili for dinner (this my friend, is the recepie for combating canadian winters, even though I have not actually been outside in the last day)

game updates: I tweaked the world gen engine, now it generates original shapes, instead of placing pre made chunks (shapes are still based on chunks, but the engine modifies them to the point that they are unrecognizable!)

I also modified the player metrics. You can now jump over an extra block!

Oh, and enemies now spawn, I currently only have 2 types though (with at least 2 more planned)

I want to finish up the game in the next 3 hours, giving me a whole day to polish the snot out of the thing 😀

to do: make graphical UI, make 2 new enemies, make spikes, actually make a game over screen (atm you just get negative health), tweak metrics, make presents spawn, make health (candy canes) spawn, write online high scores (likely ill will do this at the end, because its not crucial, make graphics, make particle effects

(most likely im forgetting something, but whatever)

okay, so I know that I havent been updating here at all (unless you were in the irc)

Essentially, my game is about a goat. The goat is hungry, but it also hates Christmas, because goats never get any gifts. The goat decides to go on a villainous rage, and ruin Christmas by eating everyone’s gifts.


There is still not much included, but I hope to have it feel more gamey by the end of today.

The world is prodecurally generated, and uses platform mechanics.


The demo here displays the world gen, and the basic player metrics.
