HELLO. I FEEL LIKE TYPING THIS BLOGPOST IN ALL CAPS WILL ATTRACT ATTENTION yeah ok that’s enough.

so i’m coming around for my fifth entry into Ludum Dare. I’ve learned a lot since my last entries and am ready to apply that knowledge to create something awesome.

Some quick background stuff, I’ve participated 4 times and this’ll be my 3rd time finishing. Yay! I actually submitted this about 10 hours ago but I forgot to make a blogpost about it because I was too exhausted.

Hello. I continued my progress on my running game. As I went on, the game became silly-er and silly-er. Currently, this is the background / story of the game.

IN A WORLD WHERE TAPE MANUFACTURERS HAVE DOMINATED THE UNIVERSE, ONE MAN, A SPECIAL MAN, A HALF MAN HALF SPRINKLER, LUKE SKYWALKER, IS ON THE RUN. HE MUST FLEE FOR HIS LIFE FROM THE HORRIBLE CTHULHU TAPE MONSTER THING THAT WANTS TO ROCK HIS SHIT. HOWEVER, WHILE RUNNING HE MUST ENTERTAIN THE FLYING INVISIBLE PAPARAZZI BY MASHING HIS KEYBOARD AND DODGING BULLETS THAT ARE FLYING THROUGH THE AIR FOR NO APPARENT REASON. HE MUST DO THIS TO ACQUIRE POINTS THAT HAVE NO ACTUAL POINT OTHER THAN EGOTISTICAL VALUE.

I think I’m gonna make a game about running places. You’re some adrenaline filled guy on top of skyscrapers. You run across them. The end. I’m probably going to implement score-rewarding mechanics that make it not boring.

Hi. I’m Kaphonaits. I’ve participated in three previous Ludum Dare compos, I finished 2/3 of said entries. That being said, I might participate in this upcoming compo if I have the time. I might not be able to finish because of Sunday plans, however if I’ll be releasing what I finish regardless with lots of comments and stuff so people can read it and either learn from it or stalk me on the internet just to constantly tell me I suck at programming and should kill myself twice because of it.

Anyway, I’ll most likely make my game in C/C++ with SDL/SFML2. I’ll probably use SFXR/Audacity for audio, GIMP/Paint.NET for graphics, and MSVS/Sublime depending on what OS I do my work on.

So I lost, like, five hours of work and now I don’t have time to finish for the Compo unfortunately. Depending on tomorrow’s schedule, I might make it a jam game.

Yeah okay. I’m fresh out of ideas so I’m going to make a management game about making meth or something like that. The bottom pane will have some cute visuals about what’s currently going on, maybe some passive animations of the inside of your meth lab? I’m not sure yet. There’s a lot of time to go!

The things I’m going to be using:

-MSVC++ 2010 – Programming is important and C++ is nice.

-SFML2 – So I don’t have to waste >48 hours just building an engine or whatever

-Sfxr – Sounds and stuff

Depending on the theme, I think I’m going to make a strategy micromanagement thing about finding out what happens in the Girl’s Bathroom or something really stupid like that.

I have no imagination. :(

So I’ve decided to do a Bomb Defuse game using C and SDL w/ SDL_mixer, because SDL_image seems to be broken. I also recently learned that Defusal is not a word. Anyway, here are a couple of screenies!

Anyway, I’m gonna participate, and this time I’m going to make some base management thing. I might not finish it but whatever.

I feel like dropping this one. Not because I can’t finish, it’s because I can. Let me explain. You see, I’m working on a visually minimalistic game using Curses. The reason I want to drop out is that my game feels subpar to all the others in the compo, and more importantly, dull. However if I receive at least two comments asking me to finish, I will.

The point is, I want to know if there are some people out there who want to see something like this on the list of games. Thanks for reading.
