Seamless: Timelapse

Got around to putting a timelapse together for Seamless, my LD29 48hr entry.

Things I’ve learned from putting the timelapse together:

– I pull lots of weird faces when I’m doing gamedev
– I stick my tongue out when I’m concentrating
– Apparently I don’t have the ability to sit still for five minutes!

Enjoy the vid and please check out the game!

I used Gawker to record the cam footage, InstantShot! to automate screenshots, Zeitraffer to stitch them together, and iMovie to add the titles and picture-in-picture effect. There are some nice bits early on of me working on the pixel art!

The music is Predictable Action, one of my own compositions from a few years ago.

You can play and rate Seamless here

I’m in.

Let’s do this! It’ll be my second LD48 – first was a couple of years ago and I’ve kind of fallen out of the gamedev habit since. Time to get back on the horse!

Tools I’ll most likely be using:

  • Unity / C#
  • Pixen or Inkscape for the gfx
  • sfxr and/or iPhone voice notes app for sfx
  • GarageBand and/or iPhone voice notes app for music

And maybe something else that I decide to download in a blind panic over the weekend.

Going to try and do a time-lapse video this time out too.

Good luck everyone!

This is the first blog I’ve written this weekend, for two reasons: 1, I’ve been far too busy making my game to be able to spare the time and 2, I wasn’t at all sure that I would be able to finish my game off in 48 hours.

But… I did it!

I’ve only ever finished one other game and that took 9 months! In many ways my LD48 game, DISASTRONAUT, is a more complicated and ambitious game than my first one as well, so I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out.

If I’d been successful in the London Marathon ballot I would have been running that today, but I think Ludum Dare is just as much of an endurance test!

Check out the fruits of my labours here.

Right, it’s gone 1am here in the UK and I have work in the morning, so I’m off to bed. ¬†Good luck to anyone still working on their entries, I’m looking forward to playing as many as possible!
