Wow, I’m actually suprised myself! This is my first post during this Ludum. Well, anyways, here is the progress on my game so far…

I think this game has been one of my best so far. I’m not too sure if I will add in some sort of score system as I still have a good 7 hours to do that.

Happy LD32 Everyone!

Looking for help with a Batch game(Don’t laugh).

A while ago(A long while ago), I created a post called, “Noobing with Batch”. I thought I would revisit batch as it was the first scripting language I ever learn’t therefore it holds a “special place” in my heart :).

Anyway, I am creating a text-based strategy game called “TakeOver”. Essentially, you are a leader of an army. You can be a variety of countries(which is why I require help). I would be looking for a variety of people who would be willing to help. But as well as fighting the frontline war. You will be fighting on the homefront, creating laws, ETC.

I suck at art...

So far I only have the menu done, therefore now would be a good time for anyone who wants to make it with me, essentially it’s a blank canvas.

Some things the game features:

  • No campaign(“story mode), the game is completely run off your choices.
  • “Mods”(DLC), that the player can install to modify the game(Add units ETC).
  • Open-source “Code”, so the community can help create their own mods and change the experience to their liking.
  • Music or sound effects in game to add a little “atmosphere”, that Batch doesn’t really have.
  • Resource’s are required to make certain things(For example, you require lead to create ammunition).

Obviously this will take quite a lot of dedication so only do this if you have the time.

Regards,
-James

Hi guys, I kinda missed the last Ludum Dare, Unfortunately ;(. But this time I will remember.

Tools:

IDE: Game Maker(I am learning Java, although, not proficient enough to make a game “Yet”)

Text Editor: Game Maker One(A bit dull, But it will do)

Graphics: Paint.net(Very trusty :P)

Sound: BFXR

And I am also going to be using “KayZ”‘s list of things to do xD

Thanks KayZ for the list πŸ˜›

Good Luck to all, I wish you the best of luck.

I’m Back!, And Starting a new project(NEED YOUR IDEAS!!!!)

Hi guys and gals, I am back. After my extremely long time away from game dev xD. But yeah, I am working on a new game. Called Space Life(Don’t know if that is already taken but I don’t think it is) it is a 2D clone of 0x10c( “nought to the ten c” ) which “Was” a project notch was working on before he scrapped it and said he would rather work on small games. Although, it has the communtities touch to it. It is set very far into the future. Too many numbers for my brain to remember xD.

But yeah, I was thinking if you guys could give me any ideas on the game-play. Remember this game is set in the future, so please don’t add anything like “Wooden Slingshot” xD. Also, the game is a RPG(Role-Playing game). Just to keep that in mind. So the game will vary in classes, races, skills, vehicles, weapons, personalities, planets ETC. The game also features an on-board computer(Like notches D-CPU, only that it is more futuristic and no-way features any of notches storyline ETC). So here is a thing of things you guys could possibly add to it:

  • Races(E.G. Humanoid, other “Off-world” species)
  • Classes(E.G. Smuggler, Soldier, Civilian, Β rogue, pilot, what ever you can think of :P)
  • Planets(E.G.I plan having a lot of these, so every type of player can “Fit” into the game)
  • Random Encounters(E.G. Ship failures, Smuggler raids on your ship, going into a black hole)
  • Currencies(Different types for different planets)
  • Languages(For different races/species)
  • Weapons(Guns, Ranged, Melee(Any type of weapon))
  • Background stories of Characters and planets
  • Types of Music people listen to in the world
  • Food
  • Drink
  • Dating system(E.G. Calendars, time keeping(How is this done on different planets?)
  • Anything else you would like to add

Remember, I want the game to be everyone’s idea. You guys can shape the world, add things, remove things ETC. Just no bad things…

Thanks,

The help is REALLY appreciated πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

P.S. You can also mail me at coolcodman123@gmail.com if you have any further queries or things you would like to add.

Looking for help with game :)

Hey guys, Currently I’m looking for help with a game I plan on making. I will be making the game in Game Maker Studio. I need some people to help. The work is voluntary, so their is no pay although it would be pretty cool if you could help me with the game. Idea for the game: The game is a 2D version of a game called DayZ which some of you may have heard of.

I need: An Artist(Someone to make the game textures and whatnot).
A sound guy(Someone to make the sounds for the game).
A programmer(Although not totally required, this would help).
Also last but not least someone with knowledge of shaders(This will help make the game look more fancy) πŸ˜€

I feel that this game would be good if I can get some people to help me with it. -James P.S. Comment below if you would like to take part in the project πŸ˜‰

Thanks,

-James

Noobing with Batch: New Project

Posted by (twitter: @JammyJames123)

I barely make posts here on Ludum Dare but I am planning on making a new game in the old, rusty and dirty piece of s*it “Batch”. If you don’t know what batch is. It’s pretty much a scripting language made for the old DOS operating system created by Microsoft.

I guess its no good for making graphical games. But I guess it will do for a good ole’ text adventure game. My new project is called “Spacecraft”. Its not what you think it is. Infact it has barely anything to do with spacecraft. Or space in that matter. Pretty much the game “Minecraft” the hit wonder. Re-created in the batch programming language. It seems pretty promising at the moment, although my will power is never good enough to carry a game past about a couple of weeks.

Here is a quick screenie of the code below:

code screenie 1

And here is another screenie of the game:

game_screenie game_screenie2

As you can see it is only the starting screen and the world selector that is done at the moment. Although I just feel that this is a very promising project and will work hard on it for a bit of a while.

Thanks for reading this very rare post from me.

I am completio! Or whatever!

Oh Sh*t!

Oh Sh*t, I kinda just realised its a Ludum dare(facepalm).

I hope its not too late, Well I just started this morning at 8:00AM GMT. I’m making some random Aircraft game. Where the player must land on aircraft carrier as pilots only have one chance, I thought It would be a pretty good game. It is a lot harder than I thought to make as its quite hard to detect when the plane touches the carrier but I just fixed that bug so I guess its fine! πŸ˜€

Anyway I have a countdown until I’m out of time to make this game. I have Approximately 10 and a half hours left to plan, Develop and distribute this game :O.

Oh well, No time to waste this is just a quick update on how its going so far. I hope your games are going good.

And Merry christmas! xD.

We have finally completed our shark game!

Its called a shark tale and Its about the life of a young shark:

Prologue:

A Sharks Tale.

Once upon a time, In a sea far far away, there was a shark family. A rarther nice shark family, They were expecting a new sharking
for a while and today was the day she gave birth. Little Sharkling was born! He was an adorable little shark, But then, He got left
behind. His family swam off leaving him, in the sand, He had little food and could not survive on his own. Until later that day,
Little Sharkling was found by a group of whales, The wales treated little sharkling as his own and they loved him more than anything.
The whales tought him how to grow up, how to hunt, how to play, how to swim. He loves his whale family. Until one day, He knew his
Whale family he grew up with wasn’t his own. He swam off into the deep seas, hoping to find his long lost family and reunite with
his beloved sister.

We are proud of what we have created.

We hope you enjoy it πŸ˜€

Where I got the Idea from:

Mainly I got the Idea from my self after waking up at around 5:30 AM to brainstorm some Ideas. I then Got up at 7:45 to have breakfast and Set up the enviroment. I got the Princess From Mario. The Gameplay from Minicraft(Made by Notch, He made Minecraft!).

Things that went Well:

I managed Time effectively and to the best I could.
Code as it Was well Commented and easy to understand for other programmers.

Things that Sucked….Badly…

Graphics(Completely sucked in many ways…)
Sound… Sounded “Scratchy…” if you know what I mean.

Thanks to all the people for there awesome comments… πŸ˜› thanks for the things I needed to improve on and the things I did well I hope you all enjoyed ludum dare have a great day!!!! πŸ˜› πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

That was One hell of a Ludum hey guys!!!
