Timelapse of my Ludum Dare 33 game. The game turned more into an interactive storybook than an actual game, but at least it was better than my previous entry ๐

Quite a lot more time spent on this compo than last time, which I’m certainly proud of. So far, I’ve created several rooms and have developed a bit of a story in my head. The idea is that you’re a misunderstood ghost, and eventually find happiness. I’ve been using Java and LWJGL, so I’m on familiar-ish ground. Here are some screenshots:
Hopefully using Java and LWJGL, Eclipse, GIMP and SFXR.
Best of luck, need I say more?
Making an entity framework for Java games
This is the start of my entity framework project that I’ve started (and will hopefully finish). It will be open source and free to download should you want to use it. Hopefully it will cooperate with other libraries.
I Haven’t coded in a while
I haven’t really done much since Ludum Dare. I did some HTML5 here and there, but it’s been a while since I used the language and library I have most fun with: Java + Slick2D. Well, this is what happens when I try to refresh myself…
Recently, I’ve been looking at HTML5. I’ve messed about in it, but I’ve never really made much, so I decided to give making a game a go. So far, I have a smiley face moving around on the screen. Yeah, not wonderful. I’m definitely going to be using HTML5 for game jams in the future. It’s quick to develop; runs well in a browser across most platforms and I can develop it in Visual ย Studio.

If anyone has tips, I’d be glad to here them. Thank you for reading
Well, I made a game using slick2D this jam. I had to edit my submission several times because the jar wasn’t working. Fixed it now, so I might as well post my timelapse. Play the game here.
Well… I got further than I thought I would in the entire competition. So far, I’ve been struggling with art, as you can clearly tell by my excellent drawing skills…
Well, I hope so. This is my first (proper) Ludum Dare. I did some MiniLDs, but never the real thing.
I will be using:
Language: Java
Libraries: Slick2D and LWJGL probably, but I might use plain Java
IDE: eclipse
Graphics: GIMP and paint
Sound: If any, I’ll probably use sfxr, I’m not great at creating sound effects
So, I’m in. Yay.
Just a random game that I’ve been making in Java. Probably about halfway through development, so nothing special. Isn’t ready to be downloaded yet :/
YouTube channel if you want to follow the development. Probably won’t post too often. I probably won’t even finish the game, but whatever xD:ย https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEq__UwOi1m2SHuksQzCTlA
My MiniLD#56 entry, Ludum Dairy, was a quick game that I made in Java in a couple of hours. Ye, I left it to the last minute xD. I’m not going to leave a link because I’m already typing and I forgot to copy the link xD. Anyway… Bullet points ๐
What went well:
- I finished the game for a change (sorta XD)
- I learned how painful it is to work under pressure while I’ll ๐
What could be improved:
- The game was awful ;3
- Innefficient collisions
- Awful graphics
- Awful sound
- Awful jumping
Yeah, maybe I could improve…
