I didn’t have time to rig up a non-VR or even standard gamepad compatible version due to the motion controller mechanics being the focus of the game. You need your hands available to drag yourself and crawl around. Hopefully a few of you can play!
The goal of this project was to try dragging yourself and crawling naturally using VR motion controllers. This works pretty well in zero-g games like Lone Echo, but I wanted to see how it would feel with gravity and surface friction. I think it works pretty well! You can push yourself up from the ground, drag yourself around, and crawl naturally. There are a few things I wish I had figured out, most notably in game rotation of the character based on the grip and position of your hands. I noodled with some solutions for a while but was left with a spinning mess and had to cut it. You currently have to physically turn yourself in real life, which isn’t so bad in this case as there isn’t too much to turn around for. The cable and port that is attached to your hand was meant to drag behind you, but it had such little visibility that I had to stick it somewhere easier to see. Needless to say, I got to audio a little late, but I’m actually happy with what I managed in that department.
