Rest now. Cleaning up entry and all that lot later.

Rik&Me made a game about finding a room. Which disappeared. And messed up various things because it has the ultimate power. Of science and stuff. Feel free to check it out!

Not entirely sure how the whole posting will be working this time around, but I’m sure everyone will figure something smart out by the time I wake up. huehue.
(Gotta see the theme before I go to bed…)

I’m in and once again I have Rik Thunder joining in as artist (sooo Jam rules it is. Though we don’t use premade assets or any such, might go for 72 hours though since we can.)

So far I’ve always programmed manually using some Java libraries. So to see what we can get done with a bit more stuff, I’ll be using Game Maker Studio this time.
(Yeah. I do like meddling with all the little details in writing a game engine from scratch, but it does take away a few hours in which I could be working on the actual gameplay instead… so let’s see how this goes.)

So we are getting pretty close to completion of our game. It’s not all that complicated, but it wasn’t meant to be. Adding a few more levels now and that’s that.

Also we have no music yet. I might add some sound tomorrow evening if I find the time, since with this being a team entry, we are in the Jam anyway.

It is just a while past 6AM -over  3 hours after the Theme has been published- and finally I am awake. Physically anyway.
Now to get my brain awake, too so I can figure out what unconventional thing to punch people with.

So I am not joining the compo this time – instead I am joining the Jam, as I have gotten myself an artist!
So I’ll be mostly coding and my friend will be mostly doing pixelart for this Jam. Let’s see how things go!

I’m actually not as prepared as I’d like to be, given that I’m not all that familiar with libGDX yet, but we shall succeed regardless!

I am back to hopefully finish my second LD-game. Last time was good fun, really looking forward to another go. I reckon I will probably be in the compo again, but that is still not certain.

Code: Java (libGDX + some stuff for sound or such)
Environment: Eclipse
Supplies: Iced Coffee, regular Coffee, whatever noms I get my hands on
Graphics: Gimp, Paint.NET, mmmmaybe Tiled Map Editor?
Sounds: Undecided, but i’ll probably use my Keyboard for sound effects again?

All done. Still no Music, but i’ll leave that for a “Maybe Next Time” or even a “I Should Get A JAM Partner For This”.

Either way, I handed in my final result – it Is my very first ‘finished’ game, so even though it’s simple, I’m quite proud of it working at all ;3

I do intend to work on the game more after LD31 is over though! I intend to turn this little “Demo” game into a fullfledged game with some actual unique content – But that’ll probably take me absolute ages to achieve. I’ll keep ya’ll updated if I get some good results.^^

p.s.: Since I intend to turn this into a full game later, all complains and ideas are especially welcome!

Doing a last few bits of tweaking and bugfixing and the things I planned for this LD are pretty much done!

-there isn’t actually any Music (there are sound effects though!), but I’m no good at creating bgm (or any music at all for that matter) or looping generated ones properly…

And my first LD Game is starting to take shape…

Okay, right now it’s really just some basic mechanics for a basic shmup – I don’t even have a whole lot of graphics going yet and no sounds at all.

BUT! I have the entirety of tomorrow to worry about that, because my first testversion is fully functional.

 

Adding a few more enemies still and once that is done I should still have a few hours left to make the game look and sound – not horrible.

This LD I will have a game to hand in 100% certainly.

Time to get started!

Heya,

I see people are starting the “I’m in” hype already and of course I can’t be left out. This is my second LD, last time I didn’t manage to finish though (some bugs in the code kept things from running properly).

This time I will actually prepare though!

I’ll be using:
Programming Language: Java
IDE: Eclipse
Libraries: (lwjgl) Libgdx – Or if things go wrong, Slick2D
Basecode: -in progress-

Graphics: GIMP, Paint.NET, a Pencil, a cheap Wacom graphics tablet
Sounds: I never actually learned to play Piano or the likes, but i’ll be using my Yamaha Keyboard to make some sound effects! Maybe i’ll even manage to hack something simple together as BGM… I’ll deal with that when the rest of the game works though.

I intend to finish in time for the Compo, but in case of doubt I don’t have University on Monday, so I can finish for the JAM still.

My first time joining a Ludum Dare,
not with a whole lot of experience in game development either…

(i have done some things here and there, but never really finished anything)

I’ll be sure to use those 48 hours the best i can though and hope i can actually get something to run!
