Struggled a lot yesterday with Phaser, should have done the warmup 😛

Here’s a little progress gif though! Gotta work more on the tweens

I’m in (6th time)

Entering for the sixth time in the Ludum Dare compo. LD23, 26 and 27 finished up with complete games, the other two entries failed due to time issues. I always feel like I get the best ideas and make the most progress during the April LD, so I’m exceptionally excited this time.

Tools of my trade: (slight changes this time)

Code and Distribution

  • Three.js (used to do Python + pygame, changed it up a bit for a challenge)
  • If anyone cares, the basic frame javascript I will use as a 10-minute headstart
  • Sublime Text 2
  • Dropbox
  • Possibly some better form of final game distribution

Graphics

  • GraphicsGale Free Edition for the ultimate pixelation of wonderful art.
  • GIMP
  • Photoshop

Audio

  • My own voice, where needed (proved really useful in LD27)
  • BFXR
  • FL Studio 11 demo version (hardcore mode, no project files, one sitting. P.S. no BSOD please)
  • Audacity
  • GreaseMonkey’s autotracker.py (swag beatz)

Utilities

Battlestation

That’s pretty much it. I’ll be sitting on the IRC channel and streaming most of the event.

Good luck everyone, and remember to have fun!

I’m in (5th edition)

Entering for the fifth time in the Ludum Dare compo, even though I just finished a course game project in C++ today and I’ve got some course exams next week. Nothing can stop me! >:D

Tools of my trade: (same as previous times)

Code and Distribution

  • Python 2.7 and pygame
  • Some old code, that barely works as a whole, but has some cool things in there that I’ve been using since LD24 (which failed for completely other reasons!)
  • Sublime Text 2 + cmd.exe (+Ubuntu virtual machine for stuff)
  • A cool pygame2exe.py script (you can find it in the source of my previous games)
  • Dropbox for… “version control”. Nah, I just throw a bunch of code together and it works.

Graphics

  • GraphicsGale Free Edition for the ultimate pixelation of wonderful art.
  • GIMP (provided useful last time with image effects and the like)

Earcandy

  • My own voice, where needed (really useful last time)
  • BFXR
  • FL Studio 11 demo version (hardcore mode, no project files, one sitting. P.S. no BSOD please)
  • Audacity
  • GreaseMonkey’s autotracker.py (swag beatz)

To the battlestations!

Here we are, on the brink of the most amazing weekend (apart from other LD’s this year). Here’s some of my previous LD work: LD23 | LD26 and another game I made this year.

Tools of my trade: (same as previous times)

Code and Distribution

  • Python 2.7 and pygame
  • Some old code, that barely works as a whole, but has some cool things in there that I’ve been using since LD24 (which failed for completely other reasons!)
  • Sublime Text 2 + cmd.exe (+Ubuntu laptop for Linux testing)
  • A cool pygame2exe.py script (you can find it in the source of my previous games)
  • Dropbox for… “version control”. Nah, I just throw a bunch of code together and it works.

Stuff someone calls art

  • GraphicsGale Free Edition for the ultimate pixelation of wonderful art.
  • GIMP (provided useful last time with image effects and the like)

What you are going to hear

  • Possibly my own voice, where needed
  • BFXR
  • FL Studio 11 demo version (hardcore mode, no project files, one sitting. P.S. no BSOD please)
  • Audacity
  • GreaseMonkey’s autotracker.py (sick beatz)

Utilities

That’s pretty much it. I’ll be sitting on the IRC channel and streaming most of the event.

Good luck everyone, and remember to have fun!

Timelapse done, I’ll record a walkthrough later :)

Here’s the timelapse for my game, which you should play if you haven’t already! 😀

I’m in for the third time!

Third time’s a charm they say. LD23 was a success, LD24 was a failure, couldn’t participate in LD25, so I think it’s time for some more success!

Code stuffs

  • Python and pygame
  • Some of my code, hasn’t changed since LD24 I think. Not going to use all of it, need to strip off the bad parts.
  • Sublime Text 2 + cmd.exe (ftw!)

Graphics stuffs

  • GraphicsGale
  • GIMP maybe

Other buncha stuffs

  • BFXR
  • Audacity, if I plan to record some sounds
  • Chronolapse
  • Autotracker!

Going for the 48h compo, as usual.

I am in, 2nd edition

Hey folks!

Previous LD was my first one and a personal success, so why not participate this time? I will be using the same setup as before, here it is:

Language: Python

Libraries: PyGame, py2exe, personal library/codebase

IDE: Sublime Text 2 and cmd.exe

Graphics: GraphicsGale Free, GIMP, others

Audio: Bfxr, Audacity, others

(I probably forgot some stuff here, let’s move on)

I’ll record a timelapse, upload speed won’t allow livestreaming unfortunately. My personal goal is to reach #250 or better in all categories, it’ll be a tough challenge 😛
Last LD I had another challenge as well, to listen three 10hour videos on youtube. Not this time (although Epic Sax Guy is a wonderful melody loop)

See ya on 24th 😀

Weekend of Daring

First LD ahead, the warmup weekend was promising :)
My tools of choice:
Code: Python 2.7 + pygame. PyDev in Eclipse as workspace
Framework: My own small framework to make some general objects easier to maintain. Available here, give credit if used:)
Graphics: GraphicsGale Free, Gimp
Sounds: Guitar Pro 5.2 and Bfxr
Looking forward to it a lot!
