In Depth Code Walkthrough – The Wrath of Gandhi

I made video where I described line-by-line the source code for my game The Wrath of Gandhi.  Check it out!

The Wrath of Gandhi

I was inspired by projects like Handmade Hero and Jai where people demonstrate their coding decisions and style in specific detail so others can learn and compare their own.

If anyone else made a video like this let me know in the comments and I’ll go watch it!

Ludum Dare Time!

Engine: Custom (C++): github
I’ve used this engine for a few LDs so far and just updated the repo w/ the latest features (that I almost certainly won’t use, like VR support, but who knows!).  Here’s Galaxia, the last game I made with the engine for LD (with a little bit of post-jam love!):

Art: Photoshop, Flash, Maya

Audio: BFXR, CGMusic

Galaxia – Updated to v0.3

After Ludum Dare, our team decided to do a subsequent game jam to flesh out Galaxia a bit more.  One huge improvement is the glorious new interface Ben designed:

Galaxia 0.3 Interface

You can play it here.

Additionally, I submitted Galaxia to the Experimental Games Workshop at GDC.  Who knows if it will be accepted, but Galaxia’s subject of exponential growth and recursive production prompted some pretty interesting comments in the feedback section:

Flyingbear: “The underlying beauty of this game is that it really gives you an appreciation of scale, of just what all those zeros mean.”

Codeapparat: “I love how it spirals completely out of control once you get those factory-factories”

MaesK: “Now I understand the bureaucratic nightmare Asimov described in the planet Trantor in Foundation series.”

Thanks again to everyone so much for playing and leaving your comments!  They are super inspiring!
