Robot Boxing GIFs

I thought it would be nice to show you my game in action, so I created some animated gifs!

Title

In Robot Boxing you are a robot punching random things in front of a hopefully appealing parallax background.

I initially planned to have a boxer punch things in a somewhat coherent world. However, I couldn’t draw a boxer, so I drew a robot and I couldn’t draw a nice coherent world, so I drew totally random things and two nice backgrounds. I hope you don’t mind ūüėČ

Forest

How To Play

You must use the appropriate glove to hit the next thing or you will lose a life. Hit tall things (traffic signs and balloon) with the blue glove and small things (balls and cake) with the red glove.

To punch with the blue glove use the A key or the left arrow key or tap on the left side of the screen. To punch with the red glove use the S key or the right arrow key or tap on the right side of the screen. Use the ESCAPE key or tap on the upper 10% of the screen to go back to the menu (if you are in the menu this will show you the controls).

The source code can be downloaded here as a zip file containing the LibGDX project and git directory. To import the source code, extract the contents of the zip file, open Eclipse and select File – Import… – Gradle – Gradle Project, then select the extracted folder, hit build model, select all projects and click on finish. If this does not sound familiar to you, please google and follow some LibGDX tutorials, because your computer needs to be set up correctly for development with LibGDX.

The mirror links point to my website, in case the Ludum Dare website has trouble with the large files.

This GIMP tutorial on YouTube helped me a lot to create this wallpaper.

Labyrinth Challenge

In Labyrinth Challenge you navigate a multi-dimensional maze trying to find the treasure.

Each maze consists of three worlds, the top one has grass floor, the middle one dirt floor and the bottom one stone floor. The teleporters connect the worlds. Blue teleporters will bring you to the world below the one you are currently in and the orange ones will bring you to the world above.

The mazes are randomly generated. Once you have beaten a maze, the difficulty increases and the next one will be bigger.

Here’s a gameplay screenshot.

This is what I have made today. It is a randomly generated maze where you can change between worlds using the “stairs” (I think I will call them portals). Your target is to find the treasure. If you want to you can play the game here. Feedback is very much appreciated.

It is 9 am in Germany and I am starting my live stream right now! (I rather sleep long than stand up at 3 am when Ludum Dare starts and be unproductive for the rest of the day.)

Ludum Dare has been great so far! I have created Pelican Challenge, where you have to dive beneath the surface of the water to get to the desired fish.

Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone,

My name is Green Lightning and although this is my first Ludum Dare, I’m going to be totally open, stream development on my twitch channel¬†and post the code on my github account. You will also be able to play the game on my website.

I’m going to¬†use¬†Haxe, OpenFL and HaxeFlixel¬†as programming framework, Sublime Text for coding, Gimp for graphics and Bfxr for sound effects.¬†I also prepared a template, so I can start coding the interesting stuff quickly.

As a warm up exercise I already made a simple asteroids clone (just flying around and shooting asteroids). You can play AsteroiDare or browse the code.

I wish all other participants good look and hope that everybody has a fun time during the weekend!

Let’s make some awesome games :)
