I will pack all with JarSplice (http://ninjacave.com/jarsplice ) so anyone can test it

In last post I’ve declared my idea: use Flashpunk to build my entry for LD22. but.. I don’t know. I’m more capable now with Java, using Slick and MarteEngine, so I’m doubt, more update will follow!

Language: Actionscript 3

Ide: Flashdevelop

Library: FlashpunkΒ  (Draknek Branch!) + Advanced Platform Engine + some light effect (I’m not sure)

Audio:Β  as3sfxr

Graphics: Gimp this time, most simple graphics!

Second day will be dedicate to clean up the game, add some music, menus and some tutorial.

Game is finished, I need to add last two levels!! πŸ˜€

p.s.: in the screenshot spiders and a blob is tring to kill you!

After 2 hours this morning all basic stuff is set:

  • flashpunk basic project,
  • moevement,
  • few enemies,
  • walls,
  • life points

Gameplay? Escape from a prison full of monsters!! πŸ˜€

I don’t know if I will have enought time to build a game, but I’ll try.

My declaration:

1) flashpunk as library with punk.ui for user interface, if I can also Explode imageΒ  and Lighting stuff from previous LD or Lightus we’ll see πŸ˜€

2) all graphics made by myself (and so it will be some crap graphics), no more mistake with this!!

3) music using as as3sfxr

I don’t know if theme will allow a top down game but I think is the most simple game to do this time πŸ˜€

I’ll try to think before do something, promise!! πŸ˜€

After a good sleep, ready for an update:

  • added light on start and end, and on every hero you can summon. When a hero dies, light stand πŸ˜€
  • added 2 other heroes: sorcerer and assassin,
  • monsters are waiting for you in darkness πŸ˜€

  • level loading,
  • sprite loading,

My final declaration for LD20:

  1. I will use flashpunk (1.5)
  2. I will use this flashpunk extensions/libraries (https://github.com/RichardMarks/punk.ui , https://github.com/RichardMarks/FPX )
  3. I will use this avesome tileset for Desktop Dungeons
  4. for sounds as3sfxr


  • go to bed
  • wake up, make some real work,
  • read carefully LD20 theme
  • design design design design
  • make a quick prototype
  • iterate

6 hours… and a game done? Seems to be impossible, but my crappy, little game is done.

Is strange talk it now, but I’ve spend my time on:

– 1 hour on a good game idea, abandoned,

– 2 hour in internet search about an inspiration,

– 1 hour in let my mind “flow” into the code,

– 3 hour of programming,

Next LD I will partecipate, I’ll need more time to spend on this.. but for now I’m happy.. my game is criptic, like my english, so understand it isΒ  a “discovery“.

p.s: source code uses Flashpunk and is a project for FlexBuilder 3, all images are done with Gimp, like sounds build with as3sfxr. Code is a pain: no comments, lot of work to do, I can do better!
