It’s been 4 years since the last pick ‘n’ mix miniLD, so I think it’s about time for a sequel!
This time I have prepared a list of goals, challenges, and themes. Pick whatever you like from the lists and make a game!
Make a game that makes the player;
- Go ‘Awwwww ^__^’

- Want to rage quit
Push yourself this jam;
- Use only 4 colours (no more, no less!)
- Make a game that uses all/most keyboard keys
- Make a game that uses just 2 keyboard keys
- Make a game with only one mechanic
- Make a game with as many mechanics as you can
- Swap 2D/3D – If you normally work with 3D, try 2D (or vice versa)
- Swap solo/team – If you normally work solo, try collaborating (or vice versa)

Not where I wanted to be, but I’m exhausted so here’s the final build for the weekend ~~> linky <~~
I’m not gonna submit it because there’s still no audio, nothing *happens* when you get hooked and close to the monster, and since I’ve only just finished the monster model the collision on it is *awful* and I’m not sure how to get it nice and I’m sooooo tired already -__-;
I might fix it up eventually but the odds are, like every project I care about it’s gonna be unfinished forever, sorry.
I’ve pretty much finished work on the boat model and I’ve added the sailor to steer it, also worked on the wave system a bunch more, fixed the monster bugs and added a little collision stuff so you can’t drive through the beast. I *still* have yet to work on splash effects, or adding any of the harpoon code, or a proper monster model… or sound… or music…
I don’t think I’ll get this finished in time for the compo deadline tbh, and my energy is running low so I’ll be taking a break and might not even get back to this today. Hopefully I’ll get a new wind tomorrow and it will be submittable for the jam!

So I didn’t start work on splashes yet like I said I would, but I did start programming sea monster behaviour and a thing where tinted lightning happens in the direction of the sea monster so you can track them down. Unfortunately the monster is WAY BUGGY right now so I’m not gonna post a playable end-of-day build like I normally do during LDs, sorry
I also started on the character & boat
Not sure exactly what will be beneath the surface but with any luck it will be GINORMOUS AND TERRIFYING!
Anyway, I’ve spent most of the time on water & weather effects, and getting the boat to start moving in a way that feels how I want. Need to add splashes next I think, but I’ll be taking a little break for a while first. gotta pace myself or I’ll burn out! \:D/
So I’m using Unity’s new 2D stuff and hopefully this will be my first game made with it! Game is pretty much “You only get one true friend”. Quick playable web-build here: > LINKY! <
So I’ve actually gotten everything working in the game I wanted working. To make use of the time left I’ll look into fixing up the environment and maybe adding sounds.

tomorrow I guess I add some fish or something!
So upon discovering the theme, I had this idea for a fishing game where you use only the mouse, and the graphics are super dreamy. so that’s what I’m doing.
I’ve got a web-player build here if anyone is interested. it’s only rod control yet, I still have to code the line/lure stuff and then obviously the fishing too ^__^;
anyhoo, I’m having fun!
Well, I managed to model, rig and animate the Vampire, Bat, Hunter and Ghost models, and get them all into Unity acting properly… but haven’t started any network code yet, so as I suspected there’s no way this will be done in time for the compo. but that’s OK, I’ll let someone else win this time
so, basically it’s like breeding chocobos in FF7, except with actual mutation and ‘genetic’ traits that are passed on, birds that are way more goofy than chocobos and you will actually be able to breed a flying one in this, it won’t just be one of those playground rumours. probably way too much work for a LD, and certainly when I’m feeling a little lazy but whatever, this is what I want to do with the theme

- Rules: your game must be one of the following resolutions!
- 18 x 64
- 128 x 128
- 1024 x 128
- 4096 x 4096
- a circle, 500px diameter
- 8 x 8 x 8
It will be non-competitive (so no voting on entries), as such feel free to disregard theme or rules as you see fit and just do whatever you think would be fun oh, and for the resolutions, feel free to do ’64 x 18′ instead of ’18 x 64′ if you fancy, or mix them up any way you like, basically just stay away from conventional game shapes! So that’s that, make sure to appear! oh, and even though there’s no competition, you can’t win unless you make a game with fishing in it of course! EDIT: DATE CHANGED, SEE ABOVE! Darkhog had already claimed the 27th, so make sure to check that out!
