Dedicated server still online!

Dedicated server up and running! Join now!

Post-Compo, we set up a dedicated server for our game, GridCars. Check it out here!
You can join the dedicated server by using “germanunkol.de” as the IP-Address.

Make sure to send the link to your friends and play it with them for the most fun!

It will stay online for the time being, and we, the devs, will be online every now and then to play the game with you, if you have no one to try it with.

Make your own maps!

On another note, we’ve create an IndieDB page for the game. Track it to stay up to date with post-compo updates…
It also features a tutorial on how to add your own maps. If you come up with a cool one, make sure to send it to us (gridcars [at] gmail.com)!

Dedicated server open again

The server is now open again and we’ll be online for a few hours. If you want to play our game with someone else – Come join now!

Hi, our game is a multiplayer game, so, post-mortem, we built up a dedicated server for our game, so that everyone can join and try the game.

The players last night had some great suggestions and so we updated the server, added most of the suggestions and now we’re up again!

Enter germanunkol.de as the address when connecting.

Download the game to join! Make sure to get the “Post Mortem Download” version!

First 6-Player match from last night (the yellow players were probably testing whether they could get the game to crash if they went in the wrong direction. Or they were told that there was ice cream back there. Either way, they did NOT win :P):

P.S. The server will stay open afterwards, so feel free to join to check if anyone’s online, or make your friends join as well and play against them!

Hi everyone!

GridCars, our game, is a multiplayer game. We received lots of messages saying that people can’t play right now, because they have no one around to try it with.*

Well, no more excuses!

GridCars

We have a dedicated server up and running.**

Join it by entering germanunkol.de as the IP address.

We will be online from 8:30 pm (now) until around 10 pm, UTC + 1 ***

The server will be left open afterwards, so go and join it!

* I sincerely hope that this means your friends all just don’t have the time right now, or you don’t want to bother them with a game you know was made in 72 hours and is thus probably very unpolished – and not that all your game-programming has left you with no friends!

**To achieve this, we have done more work post-jam. We admit it. Basically, we stripped the game from graphics to be able to run it headless as a server. And we fixed a bug, which wasn’t really in the game but the underlying network engine. We admit that too. If you feel like that’s cheating – go play the original version! We won’t hurt you, but you’ll need to find a friend to try it with, and they seem to be rare these days. :)

So, we did it!

We created a freak’n multiplayer game on LD!

Here’s the first online match we had with 3 people:

Check out GridCars, made in around 72 hours (or less).
Make sure so get some friends or family together to play it, and let us know what you think!

If playing via the interwebs, the host should forward port 3410 on their router.
If that doesn’t work, try something like Hamachi.

You can easily make your own maps for the game – simply create one in your favourite modeller and export it as .stl.
To set up starting positions, have a look at the README on GitHub.

If you have any issues, let us know!

The game is currently set to allow up to 16 clients. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to test that yet.
But it works well with 4 players:
