Yamanu Game Engine 2.0!!!!

Posted by (twitter: @jonahisadev)

Hey guys!

I’m excited to announce Yamanu Game Engine 2.0! Yamanu was completely rebuilt from the ground up with more efficient code, and speedy load times. The code is much much simpler to use. There’s less to type, for more features! This is a Java game engine, but with permission, could be easily ported over to the C’s. There is no video yet, but keep an eye on my twitter where I will announce the video. The video will be released before Ludum Dare 31. There will probably be more updates to Yamanu before the compo starts anyways, so keep an eye out on my twitter still. You can download the library here. The source code and bugs/issues are here. If there are any issues at all, please submit them so they can be fixed! Email me here if you have anything you have to ask or say to me! 😀

See you guys in LD31, and good luck!

Why Unity? WHY?

So, I thought I might like to learn Unity so I could make a good game this time around, but freaking Unity doesn’t allow development on Linux. I spent about 5 hours getting it to work for Linux, but I can’t access the Asset store, I can’t put models, in, and it’s very buggy and annoying overall. Does anyone know anything about Unity coming to Linux soon?

P.S. I will be using Java again, but this time with Yamanu 2.0, which will be released as soon as Github decides to cooperate with me.

Hello all!

Yamanu Game Engine 2.0 has been wonderful to work on. I’ve really enjoyed it. The scheduled release is going to be Friday, but the work in progress code can be viewed on GitHub here. I will work as much as I can on it before Friday, because it’s not all done, and I’d like to get it done by, or on Friday. If anyone wants to help work on this project, feel free to email me at gandalf1209@techpandainc.com. If you find any bugs, add an issue to the repository and I’ll take a look at it! Hopefully some people will use the game engine for their game for LD31!

Obligatory “I’m In” Post

Okay, so I guess I have to do this as to establish witness to the fact I will be competing. So here’s what I got:

Programming Language: Java (as always), or maybe JavaScript (try something new)

IDE: IntelliJ or Eclipse (not sure which though), if JavaScript, then PhpStorm or Sublime Text 2

Libraries: Yamanu Game Engine 2 (Release will be soon!), if JavaScript Yamanu-Canvas (My JS framework)

Audio: Audacity, FL Studio (maybe), sfxr

Graphics: GIMP (for the win)

This is all I can think of right now. Yamanu Game Engine 2 will be out very soon. Just a few things to finish up. I’ll probably do a video on that soon, when it’s good for Ludum Dare. Hope everyone has a good time this time around! Best of luck!

Yamanu Game Engine 1.3

Hey guys!

Yamanu 1.3 is now officially here! I apologize for the recent or now starting confusion on which version is what. The version for Ludum Dare 30 was 1.2. Now it is 1.3, because things were added and changed. I have a sort of changelog/demonstration video here. You can download Yamanu and/or the source code here. Thank you guys for all of your support! I really appreciate it! My Yamanu 1.2 video has over 80 views, and is the most viewed video on my channel. There’s also been a fair amount of downloads, so at least some of you are taking a look! 1.3 doesn’t add amazing features, but it fixed some annoying things, and did add a few cool features. Check out the video for more details. Hopefully I can get 1.4 out before Ludum Dare 31! Again, your support helps motivation, so if you want to see more, tell me you want more! Shoot me an email (gandalf1209@techpandainc.com) and let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Hey guys!

I will be competing in the October challenge! I will be making update videos and putting them here occasionally. I have my intro video where I talk about what will be going on, here. I will be selling the game for 25 cents on Itch when the game is finished. Hopefully, I can make 4 sales, and complete the challenge.

Now is the Time!

Hello all!

I have noticed something while playing games this Ludum Dare. A lot of people are making web games. And one of the reasons this is, is for simplicity. If you click on a link to a game, you can start playing it! But sometimes you need something like Unity, or Java, and some people don’t have those things. I have made a tutorial on basic Web Game Development that you can watch here. This uses pure HTML5 and JavaScript. It is very simple to use and understand, can be distributed very easily, and is very useful when participating in Ludum Dare! If you haven’t learned web development yet, and you want to compete in December, watch this video! You may find it is easier than it seems!

Post-mortem has and is being modified based on feedback I received from people who played it. Thanks to everyone who gave feedback, as you were featured in the video, which is here.

Thank you guys so much for playing the game!

Yamanu Game Engine – New Update

Posted by (twitter: @jonahisadev)
Sunday, August 17th, 2014 6:48 pm

Hello Everyone!

I see everyone is excited about Ludum Dare! It’s going to be really good! Anyways, the reason I’m here, is to tell you that Yamanu Game Engine has been updated! There are now GameObjects you can create, which use physics! Sorry that there is no documentation on the newer parts, but that will be out soon with Yamanu 1.2, along with a explanation video. You can download the Java library, and view or download the source. It is a little hard to explain, so I might try and make a last minute video, and put it up when it’s finished uploading. 😀

Thanks!

Yamanu Game Engine – Ludum Dare Edition

Posted by (twitter: @jonahisadev)

Hey there!

Yamanu has been received very well since it’s first release, and I have to say thank you to all of you who downloaded and used it! It has been slightly upated for Ludum Dare. Very few things were added, and those things were very minor. You can download the library here, and you can find the latest documentation here. Documentation is not fully updated to Ludum Dare Edition, but is very similar. I am still working on a new website for the game engine, so there’s no central hub area you can visit yet. I will post that when there is one.

Anyways, thanks for downloading! I hope you find it somewhat useful!

EDIT: This may be updated before Ludum Dare starts. And you know what? Why the heck not, let’s make a git repository! You can find that here! The source code can also be downloaded from here. Feel free to do what you want with it!
