Writing in Clojure was a lot of fun. Of all of my entries this feels like I might come back to it and give it some polish later. I’ll write up a full blog post once I’ve slept.

Time for coffee and a progress update!

The working title of my game is “Crate Expectations”… get it? While waiting for inspiration I started coding a Super Crate Box clone. I’ve now got more of my own ideas involved so hopefully it wont end up a complete copy

Code-wise I’ve got some simple platformer physics more or less working. I’m going slower than I’d like but I’m learning Play-Clj as I go so pretty happy to have got this far.

Coding with the repl is really cool (especially once screen wrappers are set up to deal with errors).

Here’s a screenshot with some test assets loaded in:

Well I’m done. Here’s my entry along with a bit of a discussion around how things went: Mnmlst Mnk

I’m pretty happy with what I’ve come up with and there’s lots of room for tidying up and adding new features. I think the most valuable lesson I learned is that I need to interact with people in order to do my best work, trying to code on my own for extended periods of time just makes me feel down these days. So next time I’m either organising a meetup or finding a team.

Here’s my plan and basecode for LD26.

What I’m planning to use:

I can also hit the jasmine tests from github pages, kind of like a poor mans build / ci server (http://gtrogers.github.io/ludum_dare_26/tests/SpecRunner.html)

Not sure how much of this I’ll actually use but let’s see what happens!

Just tried to play my entry on windows and found that for some reason the jar wont run and that windows thinks all of the files are encrypted for some reason. :( Hopefully it will still work on OS X, although the only box I can test it on is the the one I used for development – if anyone with a mac or linux set up could test it for me I’d be grateful!
