So excited! I’m in for #LD38.

Tools:

  • Engine: Unity
  • Sound: Audacity/Whatever I can find
  • Music: Either Musescore 2 or LMMS
  • Art: GIMP, Inkscape, Paint.Net, Blender, Magica Voxel, basically whatever I feel like.

I am very excited to see what theme we get this time round. Hope everyone has a good time and happy jamming!

Well, after a valiant effort (at least on the last day) I did NOT make it to submission hour. At this point I have a fun toy that is entirely unplayable as a game. I suppose I could upload that, but there isn’t much to do so I don’t feel it’s worth it. Even though I felt motivated, I kept getting distracted (darn Netflix…) and  didn’t get much done until today. I can’t even imagine how some people do 24 hour jams…
I will be finishing my little taco truck game and posting a blog post for it in the near future so if something like Taco Truck Tycoon sounds fun to you, look for that.
I played with a voxel based art style this time and I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be using that again. It’s quite easy to make fun models quickly and easily.
Well, that’s all the time I have for now. I look forward to playing your games!

So, yeah… I scoped too big (even though I thought it was small) and I worked too slowly…

Well, I’ll do what I can tomorrow and post whatever I can, even if that’s just screenshots. Still, I learned some new stuff so it wasn’t a total wast of time. Kinda sad though. Well, see you all tomorrow…

So, I finally have a good idea I can get moving… But I’m feeling tired which is a bit disappointing for 1:30 AM… I really need to keep moving…
So, idea time! I’m gonna build a time management game where you operate a food truck (that’s one room right?) and serve customers different orders of food based on themed levels. I think I’m gonna be doing a voxel based art style for the first time so… that’s fun! Anyway, wish me luck!

I am so ready for this LD. I’ll be using Unity as my engine, Blender for 3d models, 2d art will probably be a mix of Paint.net,  GIMP,  and Inkscape. Personally hoping for the fusion theme. It seems like you could get some really cool mechanics from that. Anyway, can’t wait to jam. Happy jamming everyone.

When the rules say you can package-up and submit in submission hour. That means you can build IN submission hour right? Just as long as the game is finished?

Well… I’m not gonna make it… I have to head to work and a combination of restarting, lack of motivation, and a bit of procrastination has sucked up my time. I’ll probably finish the game and post it here (Not in the jam of course) for everyone to see. I’ll try again next LD. Overall, I had fun!  Thanks everybody!

I’m beginning to think my idea is too thematic and not enough mechanic. I’ve got nothing really useful prototyped except a couple art assets that took me way too long. Thoughts?

I’m having some serious trouble with this… I wanna build this game but it feels so difficult. How do you keep motivated and how do you have fun even when your frustrated? Excited to hear what everyone thinks. Thanks!

Well… I’ve got an idea. I’ve planned a bunch but only focused on one 3d model so far. Gotta get some mechanics prototyped but I’m feeling pretty tired. I’m gonna take a quick nap and get up for more coding. See you all soon!
