A small update. Tile and level compiling and loading is working, level rendering is working. Currently working on the game logic.

Good morning, Ludum Dare!
I hope everyone’s doing fine so far. I’ve seen a bunch of interesting stuff on the blog already at least :)

I’ve been thinking about a couple of ideas I came up with and I’m just about to get started coding. I’ll post again when I have something to show from it.
In the meantime, here’s a photo of my battlestation!

I had a lot of fun last LD, so I’m back! Wohoo~

Just like last time I’ll be using JavaScript/HTML5 without an existing engine. I’ll be using the following tools:

  • Graphics: Photoshop
  • Sound: sfxr/bfxr, Audacity (I’ll make sure to actually add sound this time…)

I’m looking very much forward to this. I’ve been hyping myself and my friends for some time and have been doing some warming up by updating my previous game.

Yesterday’s progress

Heya~ I hope it’s going well for everyone! For me it’s going pretty well for being my first LD.

After about 10 hours of work yesterday I now have a more or less fully functional engine and a complete level as seen in the screenshot below. Today I’ll be working on levels, sound and fixing bugs as I come across them. As for the theme, I’m going for minimalism with the game mechanics and partially in the levels. You can only walk, jump and die and there are only two obstacles; spikes and blocks that disappear when you’ve stood on them for long enough. There are also checkpoints which have proven to be quite necessary.

I wanna try the game!┬áPlease do, just remember that that’s where I’m working on it, so it might break sometimes :)

Heya! This is my first Ludum Dare and I’m looking very much forward to it :)

I’ll be making the game from scratch (no existing engine) using the following stuff:

  • Language: JavaScript (C/C++/Pike for tools)
  • Graphics: Photoshop
  • Audio: Audacity, SFXR

 

Hopefully I’ll have something to show when it’s all over! Have fun everyone~
