I’m in this time, those two themes gave me an idea, and I’ve got some time.

I started at 1:30pm UTC approximatively, it’s been two hours and a half now I work on it. For once, there will be some scenario in this game, it’s the main goal I gave myself actually !

I can’t spoil you, so here’s only a first animated screenshot of it, no story yet.

That’s finally done: after one night where I hoped I could have slept (and no, I didn’t work on my entry, my kids were a little sick), my entry is done and uploaded !

SnowFall is a game like TowerFall, but you are a snow man, and you throw snow balls ! (also it’s made with no artistic talent and within a week-end)
You have a limited amount of them, but it refills after some time.
The unique level included here allows to teleport in the corners and has 4 shields that you can use to protect yourself against the other.

Multiplayer : SnowFall is multiplayer only, that means you have to play with at least one friend (or your cat, or your dog..).
X360 Controlers : the game supports currently only X360 controlers on Windows, I hope you have at least two of them !
Unity 5 : I tried the beta of Unity 5 for this project, so I hope you will be able to play it on your computer.
Snow flakes : If you don’t enjoy the game, enjoy the snow flakes falling, following the wind, in the background

I hope you’ll enjoy playing it !

A few hours later.. A clean install (multiple beta installed got in the way :s ) and a big fear when I though Unity just couldn’t open the project anymore (hopefully, removing the Library folder fixed it), it’s time to go to bed !

What we have now :

– Up to 4 players (I told you !)

– A player select screen (from 2 to 4 players, you can not select your character yet)

– No cat yet, no music nor sound effect yet

– Random spawn positions (well, random choose from the available pre designed positions of course)

– Some change in the level: it’s really bad for now, but I had to try the mechanics and tweak the physics. That’s not perfect yet, but the feeling is good.

– Snowmen can be.. well, just watch the GIF, that’s funny.

Back there, the kids went to sleep half an hour ago, so I had time to add some stuff :

– support for 2 players using X360 controlers,

– different colors on snowmen so you can tell which one you play (!)

– fight ! Erh.. no, Shoot ! You can shoot up to 3 snow balls, then you’ll have to wait, defenseless until they respawn.

I installed GifCam to be able to capture screen and generate a Gif, that’s useful !

Let’s see how it goes now :


Next steps : snowmen must be hurt, snow must fall, support up to 4 players, different and random spawn positions, level design, and a cat (of course a cat, it’s Ludum Dare, remember ?!)

So, kids were up early, around 3pm today, they’re used to sleep at least 30minutes more !

For now, we got two snowmen, they can jump, hang on platform, wall jump, slide and throw snow balls !

It’s not yet a two players game, but it’s close. Graphics made in less than 5 minutes (you can tell), no sound, no music.

Oh, and I test Unity 5 beta on this one.

All is in the title: it’s 1:30pm here on saturday, the kids are just beginning their nap, I’m starting !

Using Unity3D as game engine, not sure yet for art and music.

The theme is Entire game on one screen, but that’s too vague, so I will be using “snowman” also as a constraint !

So… An entire game on one screen with snowmen..

Well.. not me, but the character in my game is !

Here what I have done so far, not quite enough I’d say, but as I said in the first post, I don’t have the whole day to work on it, so I’m happy that I have a game at all.

My goal is… well, I’ll tell you at the end of the game, I don’t want to spoil !

So.. it’s Minimalism..

I’m just starting and my countdown says there’s 1 day, 18 hours and 16 minutes left, I’d better go back to work !

I think I might have a game idea for minimalism, let’s hope it’s not too much ! All I can say for now is that you should play a guy with a 2D view, and I’d like to put something of a “groundhog day” in it, but I’m not sure I will be able to.

Last time was a while ago, and I won’t have the whole week end, but I’m in !

I will use Unity3D and whatever is necessary for graphics and music for a guy that is neither a graphist nor a musician 😀

Well, my Ludum Dare submission contains the whole message I wanted to send, so I’m happy with it. But it lacks a lot of gameplay and you play only for one minute before reaching the end, that’s obviously to short ! So here’s a release with many levels (in fact, infinite levels) and more challenges. I also added some features as a red flash when you’re hurt, some graphics changes so you can see best your player in the middle of the “cells crowd” and some tiny stuffs around.

Hello there, I’m proud to announce that I made it ! If you read my previous post, you know that I wasn’t home, and was there only for the last 6 hours, but it’s a special 10th year anniversary, you got to do something, right ?! Not the whole thing I had in mind but something is there, and.. well, I’ll see in the morning if I were not too tired to try this, but I made it in approximately 6 hours, submitted it 16 minutes before the end, and there’s even a title screen and an end ! Here’s the screenshot of the beginning, and the link to my entry. I hope you will enjoy the few moments you’re in it, I now I enjoyed to send the message that’s in it.

Yes, the double birthday surprise party went very well ! But that was far away from home, so… I’m in ! Ahem.. There’s only 6 hours and 21 minute left, I had time to discover the LD48 theme “Tiny World” on saturday evening, and one day almost to think about. So that’s up to me now to do something with it, and mostly create what I’ve got in my mind. Time will tell if I can succeed here. I have one screenshot from the first 5 minutes (yes, there is something to see) :

And I can share one more thing with you : the title of my game begins with the letter “W”. See you soon ! (very. soon.)

Hello everyone,

sQared is not finished but here’s a preview I want to share with you : just click on the link.

This works well with firefox and windows, unfortunately the unity3d webplayer seems to have some kind of issue with the mouse input on the mac browsers. I’ll share a mac and a windows standalone applications asap so you can enjoy and mostly comment on what you see :)

A little in-game footage is uploading (very slowwwwly) on YouTube, I’ll share the link asap, but here are some details on the story :

You are on a room that you know nothing about. Why are you here, who brought you here, are you alone, those are the questions that come into your mind. And then, you begin your quest. It’s simple as opening a door: you discover other rooms with some strange lights on the walls, their meaning are not familiar at all. During your journey, you will encounter some people, and yet you will still be alone.. at the end. Who will you be at the end ? Yes, who !? That’s the question you will have to answer to be able to complete the game.

As I stated in a previous post, I’m not alone : a buddy of mine created the soundtrack, I’ve got some ideas from another one (but I’m sure the ideas are better when you discuss with other people) and the 3D models for the characters ingame are made by another friend. And yet, we are proud to participate, share the results and learn from others and from this ludum dare.

here’s just a hint on what we’re working on ! Yep, I’m not alone, well, I’m working with three buddies, that’s what I mean (so technicaly, I won’t be in the compo, but the jam) : AnneSo for the 3D models and some graphics, Ben for the music, Max(e) for the scenario (and maybe her voice before the end ?), we all participated to the original idea.

You’re alone in a cubical room. One door that you can go through.. What will you discover behing, why are you here, how did you ended up there ? Are you Alone ? Let’s try to figure out !

Everything is not quite clear but the main idea is here : let’s have an alone character in a cube (if that reminds you a movie.. well, that’s not quite a coincidence, but let’s not copy its story) and he must find the exit..by himself of course
