Alright for my 4th LD I am going to use a new engine and actually try to make my own music!

I’ll be using:
HaxeFlixel! (all the cool kids are using it)
GIMP 2.0
MilkyTracker
Bosca Ceoil
Chiptone (like BFXR but better http://sfbgames.com/chiptone/)

Let’s see if I can get something relatively playable…!

Super Resizer – resize your screen to play!

Phew, this was a tough LD! But I somehow managed to get everything in in time!

The game is Super Resizer, which is played in a browser popup that you have to resize and move around to activate blocks and get points!

It’s a really experimental and unconventional control system for a game, and browsers really aren’t meant to be used like this, but I hope you enjoy it. And I really hope no one else had the same idea as me ūüėõ

Tech:

Pure JS with HTML5 Canvas for graphics/gameplay

bfxr and Audacity for making audio

Howler.js for playing audio

In for LD31!

Forgot to make my in post, so here it is!

As for this jam, I already have a cool minimalist idea, but I won’t spoil it here. Look out for the final result!

Alright I ended up using plain old¬†Unity… well it’s the Unity 4.6 beta, so it was pretty fun (and annoying) trying out the new features.

Anyways, I went with a very minimalist, color-centric design for my game. Simple touch/click and drag controls and fast action to try to get a high score. I’m pretty happy with it!

This might be unrealistic, but I really want to try making a game in Unreal Engine 4 this time!  It would be a great trial-by-fire training session.

If I chicken out I’ll just use Unity again, but I I’m not too comfortable with how many Unity games I’ve been making lately. I need to switch things up! Even if the resulting game isn’t great…

Beyond that, I would use:

  • GIMP 2.0
  • BFXR and freesound.org
