In Again

In this again!

I’m going to be using the same framework code I made and used before, with an extra tweaked example!

Basically the framework code is what’s in the index file and the FDZ_js folder.

You can only vote the very first week after the Dare?  I forgot and was so busy that I… er… waited til this weekend to vote.  :/  EDIT:  Never mind.  I figured it out!  But here’s the game anyway.

So!  Here’s my game?  Leave a comment if you feel like.  I’m teasing all you Jukebox lovers.

We Are In

We are in, looking forwards to it.  Using a similar custom JS framework from last time, I tweaked and improved the SFX code a little bit.  Strongly contemplating using that component as much as possible (especially until I see how efficient I can make the draw code).

I’m In

I am in once again, possibly with help once more.

Not sure what sound/music systems, but we will be working with raw JS again.  So!  Maybe some photoshop, maybe some LMMS, and plenty of derping in HTML5 and JS.

I’m going to be using an updated version of my framework code, same stuff I used last time (with updates), demoed here:

The actual ‘framework’ code is in the “FDZ_js/” folders, the demo code in the “ex_js/”.  So although it has a little game demo, the real bulk of the interest is in the canvas transformations and actor tracking.  I’ve added new stuff for it to use clipping, multiple layers… none of it even a little bit efficient!  Wee!

Welp, here goes nothing…

Going to be participating in the Jam once again!  My fifth attempt?  I may or may not have a partner in developing music, sfx, and graphics.

Game will be produced in raw HTML5 javascript!

Sublime for text editing

Photoshop and/or Manga Studio for the graphics (possibly more)

Audacity, LMMS and/or Fruity Loops may be used for Music/ SFX

As with each Jam I’ve been on previously, using this ‘FDZ mini’ framework code for the games.  The latest edition is here, with a little ‘walkaround’ example included!  The all of the code in ‘FDZ_js’ is the framework JavaScript.  All of the rest is supporting content for a walkaround example posted on the site.

Hey, is there a way anyone knows of to view your list of previously rated games?  For previous ludum dares?  It would be a great way to show people game ideas you found during the compo.

Dare again

I’ll be doing the Jam once more.  I am going to be basing my work off of this code here, same framework code I made and used last year.

Though I have a few surprises to try out as well.  Two friends have offered to do music, so I’ve figured out how to do a simple lightweight setup for music and sound effects!

Seriously?  With 30 seconds left, I tried to submit my (unfinished but worth sharing) game and the submission form choked, died, and reset…

All that work, the vacation time I took, now entirely wasted. :/

Into the Dare

After trying out GameMaker and discovering I can’t export to HTML5 without a heavy sum, I tried to prep with Unity 5… but when I discovered I can’t draw circles, I got Vectrosity… and couldn’t it Unity 5 to recognize it was part of the project. o_o

So I slammed together what crap was left of my old JS framework like a night of bad alcohol…

I abandoned the damn code when failing to get SFX to work… *sob*

So, er, here we go.  I’m going to be using either GameMaker or my FDZ framework v0.2 if I’m desperate enough.  Going for the 72 hour jam, this time with a friend doing graphics with me.

It has a little sample walkaround.  I added proper camera math/zooming this time and the basis of music, sprite loading, and animation.

If I get sound FX working, I may record them or use http://bfxr.net

Probably LMMS for any music.

Paint.net or Photoshop for sprites/graphics.

Well, I can’t get my vector code to work even a little bit :/  I’m going to have to pass out on this one!  It seems like I do progressively worse with each subsequent Dare, not better!

Well, maybe next time I’ll get some preparation in and make something good…

Exhausted but in

I tried putting together a mess of a framework so I’d actually have something to start with.  This is what I got:

You can test a really crappy example at www.gwbloom.com/dev/games/FDZmini

This isn’t a submitted game, just a ‘test environment’ of the framework I’m sharing.

I’m going to be using HTML5 and straight JS again.  No time to learn anything new, isn’t this one like two months early?

Last words, may have time to do some Photoshop.  That’s about the only other thing I’ll use.  I get the feeling this will be a disaster without that extra prep time.  What a few months this has been @_@

Not Going To Finish In Time

I wish I had more time…

But maybe I’ll just submit for the Jam instead.

Work in progress?

First LD!

I’ve made lots of small ‘knockoff’ games, now I’m hoping to start something fresh in Ludlum Dare!

I guess this time around all my preparation/warmup weekend was taken away by various things, so I’ll just be working with what I know…

JavaScript, Photoshop, and Web Audio API !
