Hey Jammers! Need some music?

What a weekend!
I attended HardwareJam and MiniGameJam in Berlin. It was a blast!
But then I was too tired to make a game for LD.
So I made some music every night before I went to bed and every time I had a free minute.
About 50% are older tracks I revised, the other half is completely new.

And you can use the tracks for your jam game(s). For free! For the WIN!

Remix, cut, loop or just listen. do what the fuck you want with it!
Or ignore it. But if you use a track, a shout out would be nice :)

– I’m no musician, I usually do code. but I had piano lessons as a kid.
– I made this in 4 days (therefore the tracks are really(!) sketchy)
– I used NanoStudio (LOVE IT!!!) on iPad with iRig Keys, nothing else

If the free bandcamp downloads are consumed, I will upload this somewhere else.
Or drop me a mail and I’ll send it to you.

Happy jammin’ <3

the game is about you, fatally ill, only one day to live!
you need 1 million $ to pay for the surgery!! But you’ve got only one dollar!
but there is this new soap factory buying natural resources.
and here is this hospital garbage bin… oh my god! what are you doing?!

Here’s some artwork by Nemo

and a little animated thingie

really tired now… need some sleep…

While I’m working on the prototype/mechanics, Nemo takes care of the graphics.

And because you can’t just code the whole day, I’ve made some music for our game.

But now back to the code…

Canupa joins the Jam

Hi, we’re Canupa – Nemo, Gregor and friends – from Berlin. Most probably (if nothing completely catastrophic happens) we’re going to make a game for LD-Jam!

So, we
– have a crazy idea
– have time
– and we’re not ill (like the last time)

Currently thinking about how to flesh out (hint!) the idea, painting, brainstorming and so on…

We’re looking forward to all the great games that will be made this weekend!

Let’s go!

10 Second Life Chapters

It gets existential. Again.
The idea is to let you play through a bunch of Mini”games”, each taking 10 Seconds to solve and each one illustrating a chapter of one/your life: impregnation, birth, life and death. In the end I want the game to evaluate your choices and playing style. I hope I’ll get there, time is getting short…

I’m done with the first two minigames. Here’s a first look of game 1:

I hope some friends will join me today to draw better graphics and to compose some music, so I can focus on the code. If they join, this will be a JAM-entry. If not, I’ll try to finish the game alone and submit it as a COMPO-entry…

So keep up the great work boys and girls!
I’m looking forward to all your great submissions!

A small update to adress what has been written in the comments for my game:
– you can skip the intro now
– the text popups are now properly displayed
new version here

I will keep the main link (Web) to link to the original LD48 release.
Thanks to all developers for this awesome weekend!
I’ve already played and rated a lot of great games – but I doubt I’ll be able to test/rate every single one of the 18k 23k games haha!

Oh, there it is. MiniMale

Niche (not going to be finished)

And again, I missed the compo. I mean, as a father of two (very loud and always-hungry) critters I have to organize a compo like this (put the kids at grandma’s house, for instance)… next compo is in december, right? I hope I can manage to get out of here and have a nice coding+fast food weekend at my office, then :)

However, my plan for ‘Evolution’ was to create a small arcade life sim where you can put items on the field that benefits some creatures (+strength, +size etc.) while others try to eat, breed, hunt or flee. Eventually every creature dies and will be eaten by others. I planned to have generic missions like: “Kill all red creatures” and that the player is able to create different ecological niches, like water, sand, rock… blue creatures would be strong in the water while weak on land, reds are cannibals that live on rocks etc. Oh well so many ideas and no time…

I love abstract prototypes where gameplay is priority, probably the game would never have any fancy graphics, just vectors and color codes… well. all that is not going to happen! Here’s what I have so far (not much, but nice) and what’s never going to be finished! It’s not interactive and you shouldn’t let it run forever, as it has no boundaries in terms of object size and population count. Although I tried to balance it to more likely be a deadly world, “life” sometimes explodes!

Need to get to the kitchen now, I have a few hungry mouths to feed. *sigh*

PS: don’t get me wrong. I love my kids.

PPS: but if you want to be able to attend to LD compos as you like, USE CONDOMS!
