Turn-based Strategy, anyone? :)

Hello all! (This isn’t strictly LD-related, but I’m super excited about it. 😀 )

My new turn-based strategy game Knights of Aira was published on the Google Play store this morning. It’s a retro-styled game inspired by Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. Check it out if you have an Android device! :)

And here’s what I have so far! Really not sure where I’m going with this, but oh well ^_^

Real basic stuff. Some pixel-y art stuff, real bland color tone, a few pushable blocks and a couple of buttons/gates.

So how are your games coming along? :)

I’m in for the second time!

Hello, Ludum Dare community! I’m in for LD30!

I also participated back in LD27, but that feels like forever ago. I’m looking forward to my second attempt at winning a top-scoring entry :)

Tools I’ll be using:

Game Maker: Studio Professional for the game engine and image editing
sfxr/bfxr for sound effects
Anvil Studio/abundant-music for music (creating .mid files, converting them to .mp3 for a more modern sound)

Best of luck to all! Looking forward to playing your entries! :)

Google Play published my app! :D

Hello, Ludum Dare community!

I know it’s a bit late… (*cough cough* over half a year) But I saw the October “take to market, make $1” challenge and decided that if a bunch of strangers on the Internet could do it, so could I!

So here it is. Google Play has published my first app! (It even includes some recycled sounds from my previous Ludum Dare entry, Dwarf Wars. 😉 )

Check it out here, if you’re curious: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.falcontechnologies.PenguinRun
(And if you’re feeling particularly generous, I wouldn’t mind a purchase and possibly a review. Just sayin’. 😉 )

Obligatory Screenshots:

Thanks for reading! You all rock! 😀

Dwarf Wars now works on most Windows computers! :D

Hello all! If you have tried at all to play my game, Dwarf Wars, there’s a good chance that it simply didn’t work for you. Turns out that it would only run on 64-bit operating systems.
Well, I have some good news. I figured out how to get it to work on 32-bit operating systems as well. 😀
If you haven’t checked out the game yet, please do. I try to give a rating back to anyone who comments on the game’s page after playing.

I have a quick question for you LD veterans out there

Hey guys! I’m new around here. How do I vote someone else’s game? I don’t seem to see any buttons or links to a voting page… Thanks in advance! :)

Phew. Finally done with my project. I had a lot less time today to work on it than I had anticipated, so I’ve been doing some bug fixing for the last hour or so.

Anyways, polished or not, here comes my first ever Ludum Dare entry ‘Dwarf Wars’. Check it out if you have the time! :)

I have a gif(t) for you!

Here’s a gif, showing a bit of gameplay from my entry, ‘Dwarf War’.

Progress Report

Another quick progress report on Dwarf Wars. I’ve added sound effects and a (somewhat annoying and depressing) piece of theme music. I must say, sfxr is a life-saver!!

And now for a quick break for lunch. I can smell bacon downstairs.

Sleep is overrated.

Phew. Lots done. I’ve polished enemy AI, added Fog Of War, smoothed over some transitions, and made a basic menu. Here’s a screenshot.

Things are going well here. How’s your game coming along?

Signing off for the night

Hello all!

I’ve made significant progress on my game tonight, but it is time for me to hit the hay. I finished spriting, movement, and basic UI elements, as well as some very basic AI. Here’s a screenshot, if you like those better than words (and I don’t blame you if you do!)

Have a good night, all! And good luck with your games! :)

My heroic feat

I wanted you all to know that at exactly 4 hours, 6 minutes into the competition, I took a break from my work to slay a foul spider which had crawled into my bedroom. Go ahead. You can applaud. 😛

The Midnight Progress Report!

Phew. Midnight already here. 3 hours into the competition, I think I have a good start. The dwarves are movable currently through a click-system. The orcs are just mock-ups right now, but they’ll move eventually… I hope. Anyways, check it out:

Not to shabby, in my own opinion. How’s your game coming along?

Well, it’s been one hour. Here’s what I have so far. Mostly spriting. How’s your submission coming along?

Hello, world!

Hi all! I’ve known about Ludum Dare for quite some time now, but this is my first chance to actually participate in one.

I know it’s kind of late to do this, but I’m announcing my entry into Ludum Dare 27.  I will unfortunately not have much time to work on my game due to some real life events, so I don’t anticipate having a very polished project ready by the end of the compo, but I’ll try anyways.

My setup:

Game Engine: Game Maker: Studio Professional Edition

Sprites: Built-in GM sprite editor, perhaps photoshop if I need it

Music/Sound effects: Composed in Anvil Studio as .mid files, then converted to something more up-to-date such as .mp3 or .wav

Thanks for reading! I wish you all the best of luck!
