Beginning with SMS

Like your idea!

So I have been (today) testing some sdks (nes, snes, genesis, sms) and I decided to go the SMS way, as it is simple to understand how his VDP work, and the tools are easy to configure and use:

  • devkitSMS
  • SDCC
  • bmp2tile
  • fusion for the testing

so in 6-8 hours now I have a basic boiler plate with a font, some tilemaps and sprites, and some scenes.

Last but not least, I want to give thanks to the guy who thought this idea. 30 years ago I began to develop little basic games on my first computer (MSX) and now memory and hardware troubles are back (which is fun). Thanks!

After several compos, I must say that this is the first time I like to play and replay my own game after the compo. It’s really fun!!! (if you like action shmup like old retro  games)

Also has nice comments from gamers, so I decided to share this entry with everyone. If you have ten minutes of fun with it, will be enough reward for me.

Things were better than I expected. Phaser is really good and didn’t put the things difficult to me. Also typescript, which has turned to be an essential tool for a web frontend developer.

As I began to develop the platformer engine before compo, posted to jam. Enjoy!

Ummmm…. 14 hours without stop. As I wanted to learn phaser this weekend, I have doing a platformer (there are very good tutorials) and using monochrome graphics to don’t lose time with details.

STELLAR NINJA DX should be like this, tomorrow…

Aunque aqui en España es muuuuy tarde, tengo todo preparado para empezar…

Esta vez usare vscode+typescript+phaser, paint.net sfxr bosca-coeil.. solo espero llegar vivo al lunes!!

I dont know…I DONT KNOW how much time left to end. But if i could, i would take my laptop to start typing now. bad sad news that this celebration were enough long to have time enough to try a good game for the competition. SAAAAADDDDDD

Ummm… having finished the game about 15:00 mins before compo end, rescue the princess is done.

Only questioning me if should avoid those tiles and sprites which ressemble me to the times of the master system.

Now I cannot stop. Need to take the sun and some fresh air… other LUDUM DARE could be great! Please a christmas gift…

First version of my game. Game Idea but not sure… is a shmup with 3 worlds. Your player can jump between then. Has energy for each world, which decreasse while in that world, while other two energies increase. If you are damaged, all energies decrease. Have to jump between worlds to maintain all the three energies.

Love the world switching effect (keys C and V) Z to shoot.
