Plant Lab: Post Mortem

Posted by (twitter: @moebiusdev)

I finally found some time to work in all the suggestions you gave me on my compo entry and created a post mortem:

plantlab02

Gene manipulation made easy

plantlab01a

Simulated plant growth

The new features:

  • Genome hinting, that helps you see what manipulation changes what in regard to the plant’s development
  • Three difficulties to choose from: EASY, HARD and RAND(om), before the DNA was always random.
  • Import/Export function to share your plant’s DNA with others (left button next to the plants)
  • Exit button to return to the main menu screen

Play the post mortem (web) version is here:

Logic Bomb’s post-mortem version is now also available for download on the new website:

As previously stated the following features have been added to the game post-mortem (after a lot of comments from you!):

  • The random level generator has been updated to produce a lot more difficult levels than before. Difficulty is also increasing now with a more appropriate rate.
  • I added a tutorial for beginners to understand how to play the game.
  • Music was added and a longer beep sound to indicate that the time is up.
  • Also now there are three difficulty levels:
    • Newbie: You have time for 30 seconds
    • Specialist: You have time for 10 seconds
    • Insane: Like “Specialist” just that all wires don’t show their activation state

I hope you have at least that much fun with the game that I had implementing it :)

intro endless

Just also released the post-mortem version of my entry Logic Bomb in Google’s Play Store! Grab it while it’s still hot:

Get Logic Bomb on google play

I did many changes especially to the level generator – the levels are now a lot more challenging. I also added a tutorial for people that are not so familiar with bomb defusion and logic gates 😉

Here is the original LD#48 entry: Logic Bomb

Logic Bomb – post mortem

The Ludum Dare #27 is over but I decided to enhance my entry Logic Bomb a bit further. According to the comments my game was quite enjoyable but was a bit too easy up to level 10. So I updated the random level generator and it is now a lot more complicated to cut the right wire!

I also added the ability to cut multiple wires at once – this gives an advantage especially when dealing with more complex bomb layouts.

Furthermore I ported the game to Android because I think it is perfect for being played on tablets! Unfortunately because of some problems with Google’s Play Store, I uploaded it to Amazon’s App Store first. I will post another update when Logic Bomb also becomes available on the Play Store.

But for now: my entry Logic Bomb for Android tablets:

The feedback I got so far tells me that, despite my best effords, it seems to be unclear what the objective of the game really is – so I will try to clearify it now:

You are in this world where everyone behaves “normal”. And you are the only one who has the power to literally move things. By picking up blocks and placing them somewhere else. But the “normal” people don’t really want you to use your power. It makes them suspicious and they will try to stop you (you can see that they have gone nuts by their red eyes).

Behaving like a “normal” guy is easy – just follow these simple rules:

  • Walk only on the pedestrian area and use the cross-walk to cross the road
  • Don’t use your powers

As you can see you are stuck in a nightmare. The only way to get out is to build the wakeup sign on the correct location. Roam around and find this:

The shape of the wakeup sign

The shape of the wakeup sign

As you can see, a lot of tiles have to be placed there – so go and find them. They are hidden all around the level. Bring them back and put them on the correct place to win the game.

And: try not to attrackt too many mad People!

Mad people ... mad people everywhere!

Mad people … mad people everywhere!

Now that you know how to play the game – try it: Here

First the good news: my second LD game is finished! Now the bad: for some reason the city generator is broken in the html version but works fine on the desktop. Don’t know what that is all about …

Still – the game is ready and wants to be played.

Making some progress in my game. Now it’s more Minecraft like: you can pick up and place blocks! Next: People with red eyes that follow you if you don’t behave “normally”! Minimalistic people of course!

You can try it out here: http://entruscld26entry.appspot.com/

First day is over and I was able to implement the base elements for my game: Exception. Think of it as a crossing between Minecraft and Inception – and all that in just two days! 😉

Day 1 has nearly passed – so I’m posting this status update to document my progress.

My LD#24 entry “B07” (read “BOT”) is a first person labyrinth game about a robot evaluating by downloading software from other robots that wander around.

But be aware – all Bots with a higher security level than yours will harm you!
