I put some tracking into my LD26 entry and got some interesting results. For instance, 57% of players finished the game, and the average score was 278.

I wanna code, she wants to swing…

I’m stoked I managed to finish a decent game while hanging with my favorite girl!

My concept was:

Minimal gameplay – hit a block with a circle

Minimal sound – sine waves for sound effects

Minimal colors / design – greyscale and green + circles and squares

Minimal score – lower score is the goal!

Hope you like it!

Physics and Synth Game In HTML5

Posted by (twitter: @scoots)

My concept is to make a most basic physics based puzzle game with sound elements generated on the fly with a synth. Hopefully I can get this pulled off using Cocos2D HTML5, Web Audio API and the open source engine I’ve been working on for a few months.

Hopefully there will be a sample post before noon EDT!

The biggest villains of our time: sub-prime mortgage brokers! Sell as many houses to under-qualified borrowers as you can before you crash the economy!

Getting an HTML5 game engine spruced up

I’ve been working on an open source orthogonal tile engine that uses Cocos2D HTML5 over the last couple months. I still need to add basic physics and a couple of other things. Hopefully I can get that done by Friday night!

Please let me know if you use the engine for anything or have any feedback on it. It is still a work in progress, so keep that in mind!

I made it just in time! I’m proud that I managed to get my first HTML5 game working in 48 hours, even with an adorable baby getting  my attention all the time.

I’m going to put the goals I had for incorporating music in a way that changed the game environment in my head for a future project. Maybe I’ll get around to updating this game to include it.

The evolution of music

Loose concept:

Your actions in the game evolves a piece of music, and the music evolves the game.

I have a 2D sidescroller concept for this that might work well for Cocos2D HTML5.

In for my first Ludum Dare!

I’m excited to get started on my first Ludum Dare cometition tonight!

I’m going to attempt an HTML5 game using Cocos2D-HTML5.

I’ll be starting from their supplied code base that has been stripped of things that I don’t need. You can find it at the link above.

Good luck to everyone, I can’t wait to see what you all make!
