Rescue Mr.Furrybottom finished! well, kind of

Hello all,

that was a really great theme to work on even if the result i got isn’t as good as i plan it, i found it quite fun and really like shaping this story based on the style of 90’s cartoon.

I finished yesterday at the last minute in compo and go to bed when the page was up. I’ll do some debug tonight and more importantly start testing all your games ! by the way, if you offer an Android build let me know in the comment so i’ll try it on the subway later.

I’m still shaping the gameplay of the game and i’m continuing art while i have something to work on.

Last time i forgot to tell wich program i am using so: Unity, Photoshop, probably sfxr and something for genereting music if i have the time.

The more i’m working on the art the more i remove from the concept. The idea is using every object in the house as a weapon.

what an incredible LD ! the theme was very inspiring for me and i got multiple ideas for it. Most of them finish in the actual game who is a mash-up of all the ideas i found fun (except the on chance dating sim, don’t find how/don’t had time to add it ).

It’s the first Ludum Dare i made with a friend, and i’m really happy of our collaboration and result!

it’s a mash-up of Survivor, Battle Royal and a lot of WTF. i planned to use Unity like everytime but i had construct 2 opened and say “hey! why not?” it’s the first game i make with it, so i spend quite some time learning it, a post mortem could be interesting on that part.

I think it’s the most fun entry i made so far and as always with no sound because i know that nobody like sound, we can’t even see it ! yeah, sound is stupid.

Short post because it’s 1h30 in france, and i’m working tomorrow. I’ll spend more time to talk with you later !

Hello everyone,

first post about my progress because i had quite a hard time yesterday to find anything to match the theme. it’s the first time i found myself so helpless for a theme, they all have the difficulty but this one is tough.

I iterate twice yesterday without any motivation for theme, so this morning, i made something way more simple, to match the theme, it’s not the most inovative idea but i didn’t want to quit the ludum dare with no game to show.

Eat, sleep, work art

Hello everyone,


The process for making the 3D model and textures for Eat, sleep, work as nothing original, but it was really fun to do and i wanted to share it with you.
For this LD i had some constraint on top of the 48h limit. I totally forgot that ludum dare was this week end so i had to change my plan to be able to participate.
i decided that i wanted to hand-painted all the texture, mainly because i wanted to give a more childish style to the game and secondly because i wasn’t able to use my wacom tablet.

I ended with a 3 step process, with nothing original for the textures.

I – I start with some drawing for the texture or element i want with my 6 markers newly bought (2  shade of blue, 2 shade of green, 1 red/brownish, 1 yellow)

II – I then take a picture of it with my phone, my scanner wasn’t working on my laptop so i had to do this dirty trick. this ended up to be quite fast, my phone connected to my computer, i was able to take a picture and then immediately open it on Photoshop. The downside is the yellowish color that indoor phone picture have. this ruins most of the color of my drawings so i had to work on the levels to remove the yellow background without losing too much of the color

III – Finally i add a old paper layer to give texture and hide the simplicity of the drawing. adding the texture help to give an homogeneous look to the game.

When this work is done i go to 3ds max, make the model who fit my needs and texture it quickly in a really dirty way. the look of the texture help to hide the bad seams on the object with the addition of the lightmap.

I’m quite happy with the result and i’ll probably take some time to improve the speed  and quality for the next Ludum dare !

Hello everyone,

1 day is behind and i make my first post for this Ludum dare, 2nd of my life. I totally forgot the date and so had to make some change in my planning this week end, that mean little time today and little time tomorrow to work on my game, Yay!

My game will be some kind of buggy weird fast-paced lifesim.

I’ll probably not have time to post much during the making i’ll try to do my best.

Bonus : the desk i’m working on this week end, and for some reason i try to make my textures by hand, not sure yet if it was a good idea.

Progress!

Spend last night tweaking and trying to make the game playable for other than me :p

Please let me know your feelings about the game and the camera, i got feedback about perspective problems, if you have any proposition i’m in!

I tries Iso cam, far from player, close, nothing seems to feel right so if you have any ideas, thanks :)

CONTROLS : WASD or ArrowKeys to move and Space for Jump.

Next : Making the player and enemies models, add enemies and Title screen.

For now i’m in time…Hope to add all i want.

 

 

 

escape!

Hey everyone,

After some hours asking myself why did i check +1 for escape, i find a little something who look like a game.

Looking at my hot chocolate and strawberry jam this morning, i had the idea of a robot trying to escape some garbage collector.  So your objective is to reach the top of some kind of garbage tower made of block falling above your foot.

Controls : Arrows to move and Space to jump.

my objective for this first LD is finishing at least 1 level. so i keep a playable build and try to not do anything that can be playable in 15min.

next :

-shadow for the sphere so you know where you are while jumping

– first enemy !

– first trap !

– Title screen!
